MGLive! 2019.jpg
The world’s largest MG show, MGLive! is set to return to Silverstone on the 15-16 June 2019.

In 2019, we will be celebrating the MG marque’s 95th birthday with our annual festival of all things MG. On track, the MG Car Club and guest Championships will be battling it out on Silverstone’s famous Grand Prix layout.

2019 also marks the 60th birthday of the California Cup Autotest and is awarded to the fastest three MG team representing their local Club Centre.

On the infield, there are displays of everything the MG brand has to offer; the Club’s 17 different model registers will be showcasing over 3000 cars to the general public.

A lifestyle marquee showcasing products from local craftspeople will feature with a free family friendly funfair will also be on site, making sure even the smallest classic car fans are catered for.

A selection of food and drink vendors will be available across the site offering everything from noodles to pizza to traditional race track fayre so there is sure to be something for everyone.

The Live Arena will be making a welcome return showcasing masterclass workshops and even a stunt show.

Lots of music and entertainment will take place at the Village Green stage late into the evening and will provide a great place to unwind after a busy day of racing and enjoying all the attractions.

Adam Sloman, General Manager of MG Car Club commented “We are absolutely delighted to be back at Silverstone for MGLive! next year. We’re planning on it being the biggest MGLive! we’ve ever put on, and look forward to having a great weekend of racing and fun!”

Tickets for MGLive! will be available in early 2019, keep up to date with the latest news & ticket information by registering on our website http://www.mglive.co.uk.

Oh that's a bu@@er - clashes with 24 Heures du Mans (if the date is confirmed - wondering about the asterisk by the date on the flyer?)

I expect that the asterisk is showing it's still a 'provisional' date awaiting contracts still to be signed but KH must be happy that this date is good to go with as now.

update: 20:09 - ** Please note these are provisional dates and are subject to change** - this has now been added to the earlier posts put out by KH.

I've "provisionally" booked the nearby Premier Inn, all the times we've been to MGLIVE we've never been able to get in there, couldn't get in at Silverstone Golf Club this year unfotunately.

MGLive! is taking place at Silverstone Circuit on the 15th & 16th June and is shaping up to have a packed programme both on and off track to commemorate the MG Marque’s 95th birthday.

On track, we will see racing from the MG Trophy for MG ZRs, BCV8 Championship featuring MGB and MGC cars, Lackford Engineering Midget & Sprite Challenge, Cockshoot Cup Championship for MG sports and saloon cars plus the Iconic 50s Series.

Porsche Club Great Britain will be back as guests with the Petro-Canada Lubricants Porsche Club Championship with Pirelli with Club and Restoracing competitions taking part. Equipe GTS will again be joining us as guests, providing a recreation of the vibrant clubman racing scene of the late 1950s and early 60s.

Mini is having its 60th anniversary in 2019, and to add to the celebrations taking place at MGLive!, Dunlop Mini Se7en & Mini Miglia Challenge supported by Mini Spares will also be taking to the grid.

A revolutionary design that influenced the cars of today and a cult classic designed by Sir Alec Issigonis, today Minis can be found racing in historic motorsport and across the classic car scene being admired by young and old.

Mini Se7en Racing Club and MG Car Club racing goes back a number of years, including the M7RC attending the MGCC 75/BMC Comps meet held in July 2005 at Silverstone Circuit, and 2019’s appearance is sure to be a real crowd-pleaser with capacity grids promised.

The programme will feature a double-header race for the Mini Se7en & Mini Miglia Challenge. On Saturday, Spectators will be treated to two servings of historic motorsport’s icon with a 20 minute qualifying session, followed by a 20 minute race. The Minis will be back on track on Sunday for another 20 minute race too.

The Live Arena will be making a welcome return showcasing masterclass workshops and even a stunt show.

Adam Sloman, General Manager of MG Car Club commented “We are absolutely delighted to be back at Silverstone for MGLive! and offering the public and members to take advantage of a great event at a great price. We’re planning on it being the biggest MGLive! we’ve ever put on, and look forward to having a great weekend of racing and fun!”

Tickets will be available to purchase at http://www.mglive.co.uk from 10:00 Friday 1st February.

Important MGLive! Announcement

We are truly sorry to announce that due to essential track maintenance at Silverstone Circuit, Silverstone have confirmed we are no longer able to hold MGLive! on 15-16 June at the venue.

This is a force majeure scenario totally outside of the Club's control and we are truly distraught at this news that this will be the first time in over 60 years our annual meeting won't be held at Silverstone.

Everyone at the Club is working incredibly hard to find an alternative solution for MGLive! for 2019. We want to hold the event this year and not add to the recent decline in Classic Car events.

If you have already bought a ticket for 2019 - Please bear with us and we will be in contact in due course once we can confirm that alternative arrangements are in place.

We will announce further news in due course once we are able to do so.

Thanks for your ongoing support in this matter.

Although I feel sorry for the work that's gone in and the bookings etc. I'm now looking forward to something different other than Silverstone. This could be a good chance to try something and somewhere different. Lots of good tracks and airfields out there. I don't know the In's and outs but can't help but think Silverstone have taken the micky with this not just with the mgcc but the other clubs due to have gone that weekend. They must have had some idea of the work being done to the track.

It would make sense to try and make the weekend of 20th/21st July a bigger MG event at Donnington as the MGCC have a weekend's racing their already!!

Acording to the Autosport Website, the track was resurfaced in 2018 The susequent Moto GP was cancelled due to rain on the track. Investigation resulted in them losing their FIM License.
Silverstones income from the Grand Prix and Moto GP are a vast muliple of the MGCC Meet. What alternative did they have ???

Why do they have to wait until June to do the resurfacing - why not now ?

Presumbly because after a short bedding in time the track surface will start to degrade especially if being used for race meeting, track days, race driving lessons. I would also imagine that summer weather :sf: is more conducive for best results in laying the track down.

KH is working hard and as fast as they can, looking for an alternative event/date, but no news is to be released until it is agreed. The information will come from the KH team once available.

The news up to now, can be found on the main MGCC website including FAQs.
