4th April MG Gathering at Donninghton MGCC Race Day
This should see Paul's (Luti) first race in the new Dreadnought TF.
There is also a big multi forum gathering being planned for this event.
Last year i think the only F / TF was Gaz Sutton's, but i'mn sure I must of seen Keith's as well. Over 100 modern MG's turned up last year, with many taking part in the parade laps.
Lets see if the F Register can put in a better appearance this year?

Re: 4th April MG Gathering at Donninghton MGCC Race Day
Things will be every different at Donington this year with all the work going on to prepare the circuit for F1 in 2010.
Planning permission has now been granted and the plans look very impressive.
http://www.donington-park.co.uk/media/p ... ews_id=405
Chatting to ChrisT at the weekend, it seems Donington have already moved a lot of earth, transforming the layout of the circuit already. The work at the track, is suppose to not effect the racing this year but with such major work going on - we will have to see. Some impact must occur with such major work going on. Lets hope not enough to detract from the racing.

I took my F last year and camped as well which was cold but good fun! Hope we can get a good turnout - it was a great day last year. I'll be there again this year with the Rover Coupe Owner's Club guys I'll definitely be in my F and hopefully with Gareth's coupe as well.

I will put this down as a maybe at the moment, but as I live only five miles away it shouldn't take much planning!

Re: 4th April MG Gathering at Donninghton MGCC Race Day
Good decision there Colin.
Looks like it has created a major ripple with the organiser of the multi forum meet but if you have your event at a MGCC race meeting you should not get or expect preferential treatment above and beyond that of the standard MGCC member.
Hope the ripples die down and there is a good turn out of cars again at Donington in April to enjoy the meet and the racing as a whole.

Re: 4th April MG Gathering at Donninghton MGCC Race Day
I was just spreading the message that I heard at the Zed Reg Comittee Meeting yesterday - would hate for an MGCC member to turn up without their membership car.Keith Williams wrote:Good decision there Colin.

Seems like it also had the effect of lighting blue touch paper and retiring!!!!

Re: 4th April MG Gathering at Donninghton MGCC Race Day
Donington has really worked hard to get the track ready
Who needs a parade lap on the day when you can sit in the warm for your circuit experience? and you can have it if a MGCC member or not

Re: 4th April MG Gathering at Donninghton MGCC Race Day
Races for the day .........................
Race 1 MGCC Peter Best Insurance Challenge & MGCC Cockshoot Cup [18 & 5 cars]
Race 2 & 9 MGCC MG Trophy Championship & Lenham Cars Midget Challenge [18 & 18 cars] {1 & 6 reserves}
Race 3 & 8 PCGB Porsche Club Championship
Race 4 MGCC Zero Exhaust Thoroughbred Sports Car Championship [6 cars]
Race 5 ‘Equipe’ GTS
Race 6 MGCC Strata 21 BCV8 Championship [3 cars only!!]
Race 7 Power Torque Morgan Challenge [7 cars]
Most race grids are filling up slowly other than the MG Trophy & Midget race which is now full, with reserves been added to the maximum of 18 cars for each Championship. I hope the organisers look again at the race meet and maybe give both Championships their own races. May be hard to do though as both want a double header on the day. With the slow build up of grids to date, some of the other races may need to be combined to make a suitable grid size on the day.
Still a month or so to go so all could change yet.

Re: 4th April MG Gathering at Donninghton MGCC Race Day
It looks like we may be short of marshals for the 2nd year on a row at Donington: see message below from the Chief Marshal.
If you are available to help with marshalling at Donington Park please let me know.
My email is clive@waylands.me.uk or fone me on 07753 685833 (b4 9.30pm please) or check on the Marshal page on the Motorsport section of the MGCC website
Last year it was touch and go if the event could actually happen due to the lack of marshals on the circuit.
No marshals = no racing = no event!!
If you fancy getting up close and personal with the racing and helping out on the day, please contact Clive above and join in the fun.
For some reason, Donington seems to not atttact the marshals to certain events and it does not help that MGOC is racing their championship at Silverstone ON THE SAME DAY as the MGCC are at Donington and they will get the 'pick' of the marshals. The clash of race dates may also be a reason some of the races are short of cars and drivers as some drivers do race under the banners of both the MGCC & MGOC. Hope they sort out the race calendar better for 2010!!

Re: 4th April MG Gathering at Donninghton MGCC Race Day
I still have not yet seen a LE500 on the road but at Donington will get the chance to see two racing on the cicuit in the Trophy Race.
http://www.mgcc.co.uk/images/motorsport ... TROPHY.pdf
Lets hope the race cars do not reduce the total number of LE500 made as they won't be to easy to repair if they get any panels etc damaged during racing.

Re: 4th April MG Gathering at Donninghton MGCC Race Day
even more reason for more F's / TF's to attend!
I saw one parked on the road at Wickwar, but then realised it was AE Wilcox's demonstrator!

On the list on the multi forum meet I seem to be the only F coming - is this true or are there more??
