MGFest Saturday Road Run

Post by Keith Williams » Tue Jul 14, 2009 7:58 pm

With the MG Live weekend over, thoughts must now move on to Fest .............................

The Saturday road run is nearing completion and will show off some of the best roads in the Midlands to drive around. The run is based on the Press Route used to show off the MGF to the press back in 1995. The road run will start on the apron in front of the Heritage Motor Museum, returning back to the museum in time to enjoy the evening festivities. There will be plenty of time to enjoy a pub lunch some where along the route.

It would be useful if you are intending to join the road run on the Saturday if you could add your name to this list to give us an idea of how many cars will be attending. This will help us in the preparation of road books and rally plaques and allow us to have enough ready for the day.

Hope to see you all on the day ready for a good drive :thumbsu:

The road run start is planned to be 11:00.

Sign on in front of the museum will be between 9:30 to 11:00.

The road run start is planned to be 11:00.

Sign on in front of the museum will be between 9:30 to 11:00.

Friday night camping will get you to the start of the run nicely refreshed. The camping ticket is valid for both Friday & the Saturday night so you can take your choice.

I re ran the route yesterday with my brother as the navigator with no prompts from me & the route seems to work well. :thumbsu:

A MGB driver can understand the route book anyway so just need a few more F/TF, Z or other MG drivers to turn up to try it out.

A wide range of road types to drive over and some great villages to slowly drive through. MG chose some great roads to show the MGF to the press, There are plenty of pubs to stop at for lunch on the route.

Both previous Fests have had really good weather - fingers crossed for this year - don't foget the sun screen :thumbsu:

Be good to have a 'special car' on the run. We are hoping we might get an old press car or two to re live the run they did back in 1995.

You got them all but managed to double up a few of the names, list up to date now .......

We have a good number of cars booked onto the run but there is still some space for more cars if you fancy turning up on the day.

Some very good roads to cover in the 100 mile round trip around the midlands passing through some very scenic villages. There is a short cut back if you fancy a shorter run.

Assemble in front of the museum to collect your rally plaque and road book for a start at 11:00 after a short briefing before the send off.

On your return to the museum, gather in front of the museum again to collect your finishing plaque.

Sounds like the Dutch Octagon Tour (except it's not two days and 600km's  ).
