Post by sparky135 » Wed Mar 17, 2010 7:36 pm

The MGF Register Essex Charity Run 2010
in aid of the RNLI.

Sunday 13th June 2010

Meeting at 0830 for 0930 departure.

Starting point:
Toomeys Car Dealership/BP Service Station
Cherry Orchard Way
Rochford
Essex
SS4 1GP

Cost:
£15 (MGCC Members)
£18 (Non-MGCC Members)
Plus a £5 donation to the Burnham on Crouch RNLI Boathouse Appeal
at http://www.justgiving.com/burnhamboathouseappeal
(State MGF Run when donating on the JustGiving site so we can monitor how much we raise)

This year's MGF Register Charity Run, organised by the Essex Roadsters, will start at Toomey's and take in the whole length of the Southend on Sea seafront before taking a scenic drive to the Battlesbridge Antiques Centre. After a short stop at the antiques centre the run will continue on to the Burnham-on-Crouch RNLI Lifeboat station. We will be given a tour of the lifeboat station with the opportunity to try on the lifesaving gear and pose in the boats for photographs. Following the tour we will move to a reserved parking area in the picturesque and historic town of Burnham on Crouch whereupon we will be given a guided tour of the town centre.
There will be a quiz to keep the navigators occupied on the road run with a prize for the best answer sheet at the end.
There may also be the opportunity to visit the nearby Mangapps Railway Museum for those who are interested.
Breakfast will be available at the start for a small fee of £3.

This event is open to all MG owners regardless of model.

For those wishing to travel to the event the day before the following hotels are in the vicinity of the start point:

(Recommended on price)

Premier Inn at Thanet Grange, Princes Avenue (A127), Southend On Sea, Essex SS2 6GB.

This is not a bland A - B run, you will enjoy the journey and the surprising Battlesbridge Antiques Centre, in fact it's a small village and you should spend about 90 minutes there. You can get a cooked breakfast at the start and you will be entertained at the RNLI station and in the quaint time warp town of Burnham on Crouch. If the boats are in you will have access to them and the equipment, the run will take you over some great driving roads and some to get you thinking

At the end of the day, if you wish, you can take the very short drive to the Mangapps Railway Museum to finish the day.

Applications are starting to come in now, so don't miss booking your place on our main charity run of the year :thumbsu:

Please also remember we are using a different 'Just Giving' web page to collect the charity money for this event, which means the money collected will go directly to the Burnham boat house appeal fund http://www.justgiving.com/burnhamboathouseappeal.

So once you have applied for the run online, please either donate via their appeal site or you can still donate on the day but the RNLI will get more money if you donate via the 'Just Giving' page as they can collect the Gift Aid which they can not do if you just make a cash donation on the day.

Only two weeks to go with MGLive in between so don't forget to sign up to the Registers charity run in aid of the RNLI on the 13th June. Remember this is the only main road run event of the year.

We are raising money at the run specifically for the Burnham on Crouch RNLI Boathouse Appeal for them to rebuild the boat house to cater for the new lifeboat they will be getting in 2011. We can not promise a ride in the lifeboat but just a taster of what it would be like is below
