AGM, Gala Dinner & Charity Run: 12/13 March
This is our first “Chairman’s Charity Weekend” and it takes place on the 12th and 13th March.
The weekend is in three parts and you are welcome to join us for any or all of them (hopefully all!).
The weekend starts on Saturday with
The MGF Register AGM & talk at Kimber House which is free,
followed by
The Gala Dinner at the Four Pillars Hotel, Abingdon which costs £26 per person The recommended accommodation is the Premier Inn, Marcham Road, Abingdon http://www.premierinn.com/en/checkHotel/ABIOCK/abingdon due to the Four Pillars only allowing a 2 night booking on the weekend.
and on the Sunday we have a
Charity Run in aid of Help for Heroes costs from £20 per car which includes one entry to Blenheim Palace
(additional passenger at the discounted rate of £10.75 for adult, £9.60 for concessionary or £6.20 for child) Help for Heroes is our charity for 2011.
Please make your donation direct to our charity page for 2011 via https://www.bmycharity.com/V2/MGFRegister2011
Saturday is filled with events starting at 2pm with a talk at Kimber House by Allan Ashenden who worked on Project F alongside Brian Griffin and then led the 2000MY facelift team. This will be a fascinating insight into the development of the MGF by a person who was right in the thick of it. This will be followed by our AGM where you can have the chance to ask questions of the Register. You can also take the opportunity of a tour around Kimber House, the hub of the MG Car Club itself, following the AGM. That’s not it though as in the evening we will be hosting a special gala dinner at the Four Pillars Hotel in Abingdon with our special guest, Ian Pogson, who led the 85th Anniversary TF development team and is now busy bringing us the UK version of the MG6. I’m sure we can persuade him to say a few words after the dinner, I suspect would be harder to stop him anyway!
We wanted a heroic location suitable to reflect our support for the Help for Heroes charity as a destination for our first Chairman's Charity weekend run and what could be more heroic than Blenheim Palace. It’s a real home to heroes from the first Duke of Marlborough to Winston Churchill and there is now a special Winston exhibition at the house. So our Sunday charity run will be a heroic venture indeed and begins in Abingdon early Sunday morning.
The Gala dinner and Charity run can now be applied for via the online shop via the events page http://www.mgfregister.org/shop/10-events
The events have to be booked via separate pages.
The Gala dinner, we have to pay a deposit to the Four Pillars shortly and the full payment needs to be made by early March. The menu choice is on the online shop page.
The additional entrance tickets to Blenheim have to be ordered in advance to allow us to get the group rate.
Booking for the dinner on Saturday evening has now closed.

We can only do the Sunday, but will book it now. This will be our 2nd ever event in the TF, it has some way to go to catch up the MGB.

No problem booking at Stoneleigh using a paper application form. Might be worth down loading one just in case we have a mad rush for them at the show. Other than that, the online shop booking is proving a popular way to register at the moment.colintf wrote:will we be able to book / pay at the MG Show & Spares Day at Stoneleigh?

Yep. Premier Inn it is. Unfortunately the Four Pillars don't do single nights over the weekend.dwkmgf wrote:

Re: AGM, Gala Dinner & Charity Run: 12/13 March
Did a trial run of the run from Abingdon to Blenheim on Saturday and the route is looking good, even if I do say so myself.
The only slight problem was the diversion they have in due to road works taking place. The diversion took us round a more interesting route in the end so that will be in the final run just in case the road works over run.

Sorry Colin but we not have a credit card facility so would have to use the MGCC one which 'costs us' and we then have to ensure we get the money transferred from their account to ours. An easier to pay via credit card would be through the online shop using Google Checkout (or PayPal) or you can pay via cash or cheque on the day at Stoneleigh.colintf wrote:will register up at Stoneleigh on Sunday.
