April events - any one going?
A couple of events arriving very soon. One is definately in our area whilst the other is slightly further a field.
Who is going to either or both?
Sunday 6th April: MG Day at Brooklands
KeithW
Saturday 12th April: Pride of Longbridge Rally
The rally will commence again at Hopwood Park Services at Junction 2 on the M42 leaving at 11:00 'ish am for Cofton Park where we will gather opposite the factory.

Mike
Alan & Jeanette
Both are a good day out with a wide range of MG's at each and obviously a wider range of cars at Longbridge.

Enjoyed Brooklands last year but it's such an unpleasant slog to get to I think I will give it a miss, I may make to Pride of Longbridge Rally.

Re: April events - any one going?
Last year a few of us met up at Kenilworth and drove in together via the back lanes to Hopwood.
Will have to see where we are all based for a start point this year if people fancy a convoy in

Re: April events - any one going?
I will try to make it to Longbridge possibly with my father in law who is an automotive buff and retired engineer. (Handy!)
Brooklands out of the question as I am using my annual "day looking at cars pass from 'er indoors" at the Lotus festival this Sunday..
Hope to meet up with you all. Please bring some warm sunny weather with you.

Re: April events - any one going?
Last years event was hot and sunny so hopefully it will be again this year. Real top down and ice cream weather it was
We may have a convoy in - so watch this space but if not, make sure you look us up Mike at either Hopwood or Longbridge - Steve's car stands out real well with that bittersweet colour - so come and say hello.

Re: April events - any one going?
Think you all had the right idea in not going to Brooklands today. I nearly did not go when I saw the snow but as it looked like it would soon clear up I went down and of course it did not clear as quickly as i hoped. Amazed how few cars were there this year. I arrived at 10:20 and was only the 22nd MG to arrive. Good job the F's and Z's were there or there would not have been a show. You could count the older MG's on your fingers. Not sure it if was just the weather or they had a better event to attend?
Lets hope the weather and attendence is better at Longbridge next week

Re: April events - any one going?
You could be right there Alan - started off at 11:30 at top of the thread but now looks more like 11:00 at the tail end
Even if they start at 11:00, the large amount of cars trying to leave at once will drag out the 'start'. I will modify the start to 11:00 'ish !!

Re: April events - any one going?
Any one fancy meeting up and arriving at Hopwood together?
We can travel in on some nice country roads then instead of blasting straight up the motor way.
So far it looks like most people are coming from Birmingham so we could maybe meet up at Meriden (the true HoE town!) either by the bike monument or at The Strawberry Bank pub [CV7 7NF]. Any one coming in from the East Midlands, we could have an initial meet at TGI's as 'normal' and travel down the A45 to meet the others. Any other meeting point can be considered of course if more suitable.
Details will follow if any one is interested.
[edited to take out the Toby Carvery as a start point - not only have they a barrier but a pair of gates now to stop admission when they do not want you to enter!!!]

I am not going to be able to make it, I need to replace windscreen wiper mechanism as it totally failed on my way home this evening in fact my car needs some TLC now it looks like my new kitchen is finally looking like it will be finished this week.

Re: April events - any one going?
Sorry you can't make it guys
At this 'drop out' rate I hope it won't just be just me at Longbridge like at Brooklands last weekend to wave the flag for the midlands. lol.
Still a few cars (5 or 6 depending if Alan & Jeanette bring both cars?) down to go though at the last count.

Does your windscreen fold down like a vintage car then?Chris Tideswell wrote:I am not going to be able to make it, I need to replace windscreen mechanism as it totally failed on my way home this evening in fact my car needs some TLC now it looks like my new kitchen is finally looking like it will be finished this week.
