Heart of England book club (Pencelli Campsite)

Post by Steve White » Mon May 20, 2013 7:06 pm

The book club will be returning to Pencelli Castle Campsite near Brecon this year, for another relaxing weekend and hopefully another welsh sun tan 8-)

We will be there Thurs 4th July until Mon 8th, but anyone wishing to tag along can do so for as little or as long as they want.

Booking is simple, just ring Pencelli on 01874 665451 and ask for a tent pitch in the Meadow, for the nights you wish to stay (deposit may be required).

Format for the weekend is very relaxed, you do as little or as much as you want (hence the 'book club' as on our last visit we spent most of the time lounging around on the campsite reading).
No doubt at some point there will be a run over the Beacons, but it will be very much make it up as we go along.

All I ask is that you are self sufficient (i.e. have a tent and means to feed yourself) and respect the campsite rules. Groups are not normally allowed but as we have been visiting many years as a group we have a special dispensation ;)
There is a pub within walking distance of the campsite but I can't guarantee they serve food. Thre a good Chinese in Brecon I can recommend, and will probably end up at one evening
No doubt the weather will be so nice we will be firing up the BBQ's in the evenings :thumbsu:

I'm pretty sure I could talk Lorna in to a weekend at Pencelli without panty trouble. Can we bring two cars and two kids?

When I got the ZT, strangely our camping gear expanded the fill it and the boot of an F, so we normally end up taking 2 cars too  so no problem.

You also don't want any panty trouble though.

And it would be nice if Steve could bring all 8 cylinders this time :P

I took all 8 cylinders last time, I just managed to misplace one somewhere on the Becons.
I now carry a spare in the boot as it has hapepend again since.
It seems to be fine as long as Keith isn't in the car......

I have moved onto bigger ways of destroying cars lately rather than just plugs springing out, so you had better keep me out of yours for a while

Booked in at Pencelli and staying an extra couple of days after the weekend too. I really need to find the canal this time for a stroll

Don't leave the handbrake off in that meadow Keith or the car will find it for you.

I saw the forecast too but disbelieve it some what. I will wait until I stick my head out of the tent to decide if it is right

What are the round yellow images on the forecast?? I have not seen them for a while

Looking very nice. I've booked the time off work so you never know we might just join you still.

I'm really looking forward to this weekend, even more so now that Keith has got busy with his highlighter pen 8-)

Chris Hathway and Rob Preece will also be joining us - apparently they have beer left over from Silverstone which can only be drunk whilst camping  I think it's just an excuse to sit around and do very little for a weekend myself ;)

Weve camped at Pencelli before but that was when we had the Tin Tent, was a great site

Sounds like a great weekend I hope the weather holds out, are day visiters allowed ?

We're booked Thursday to Monday, can't decide whether we're mad or not!

Will be great to see Pencelli again after so many years away.
