Car keys locked in the boot!

Post by Fayelizzy » Sat Aug 03, 2013 12:41 pm

My other half is not in the good books, the doughnut locked the keys in the boot! I have read around and heard of the treffen method and the tennis ball trick? I am aware that there are alternatives that a thief might use but obviously this can't be made common knowledge! Could somebody message me, I would be eternally grateful. I am tempted to take the keys out of the and put my fella in! One great thing has come out of this though, I joined this!! Hello all

It all depends on whether you are stranded and when you need the car. The easiest method is to get a new spare key.
http://www.x-parts.com will show you your nearest MG Parts/Service Centre who can supply you with another key against your VIN/5C Log book.
Alteratively http://www.mgrovercodes.com will tell you the Key Number as well as other codes including the important Emergency Key Access Code (EKA) which enables the immobiliser to be turned Off just using Left and Right turns of the Door Key if the Fob fails or is lost.
The paperwork with the car may include a buisness card size card giving all the car relevant Code Numbers.
Do not blame the other half as he will have the last laugh when you do it. SWMBO carries our spare key. My wallet has the EKA, Radio, Key and Locking Nut Codes.
