Window alignment, how difficult?

Post by Steely » Tue Feb 18, 2014 9:56 pm

Hi, picked up an MGF today that needs both windows aligning, I came across a guide (PDFs & write up) that pointed out the various adjustments, looked like 4 or 5 adjustments can be made, I worry (from past experience) that I might make it worse than it already is, is it as difficult as it looks ?
The car is also due a service and needs brake discs and pads, an advisory on mot I think mainly due to it standing for a long time and not being used much in the last year, so if anyone can suggest a good garage/mechanic South Birmingham area (I am near Longbridge) ?

Thanks, Paul.

I find the windows a night mare, I can't get them close  what was the brake advisory for? It could just need to good drive with a bit of brake dragging to clean them off.

It was an advisory on the last mot too, they are badly pitted, although after driving a little they now feel fine and responsive, but they will need replacing in the near future anyway.
The window is my main concern, there is a gap on the drivers side that will let in water :-(
Any advise on where to take it ?

Window alignment was just window stops on both sides, removed the door panels and found the old plastic stops in the bottom of the door, replaced with the later versions and both windows are sorted :-)
