Decent GArage in Nuneaton Area

Post by Darrenbrown507 » Wed Feb 19, 2014 10:58 am

I have recently purchased a 2001 MGF, and i have a few issues. Mechanically I am useless.....I have a heavy clutch pedal, some research points me towards the clutch release arm. I also have an issue where I accelerate hard, the engine revs, but the drive is very slow to respond. I live in Nuneaton and was wondering if anyone can recommend a good garage who knows their way round an MGF and is not going to fleece me?

The symptoms do sound like a sticking clutch release arm. Unfortunately if it has resulted in the clutch to slipping for some time, a new clutch is likely to be on the cards too.
I use Austin Garages in Burton, which is a bit of a trek for me (your a little nearer) but worth it.

Austin Garages come highly recommended form me as well, and I am further away from them than Steve, but not as far away as some of his overseas customers (France, Germany etc etc) kind of speaks for itself really :thumbsu:

Following the demise of Tech-Speed, these days we use Luffield in Loughborough. They do an excellent job and will give you an honest quote. Talk to Dave Davey.

it sounds as if it's to late to just release the clutch arm, sounds as though it's been dragging the clutch too, so it really needs to go into a garage anyhow

Atherstone Garage Service Centre in Long Street are MG Rover specialists but I don't know how good or otherwise, they are.

Ok, I have had a full service and the clutch fluid replaced, but I don't think the guys who did it really understood what I was on about. The clutch is much better but I still want to lubricate the release arm. I am going to have to bite the bullet and borrow some tolls and give it a go!!!
