September 'Fire & Ice' meet

Post by Steve White » Sun Aug 17, 2008 6:37 pm

Bit of a change for our September monthly meet as I have recieved the kind invatation from Geoff and Ann to host a 'fire & ice' event on a Satuday in September.
They will provide the fire (BBQ) and ice for drinks and you bring along your own food & drink.

I have added a poll below so that we can get an idea of which date will be best (have not added 6th as that is the weekend of the 'Taste of Wales' event).

Also anyone who wishes to attend, could you please drop me a mail to hofe@mgfregister.org so that I can mail you address & directions on how to get to Goeff and Ann's, which I dont want to post on a public forum.

Looking at dates. would a Sunday be more convenient. perhaps the 21st.
This also happens to be the 40th Anniversary of my first sensible job and of my driving all over Europe. I took the 1140 PM ferry from Dover to Ostend to drive my Austin 1300 to Belgrade for a 3 year posting maintaining and refurbishing engines with the Jugoslav Air Force.
Please let us know as we need a few days to arrange the good weather.

Other than the Welsh weekend and Saturday 13th, the rest of the weekends are free so far, so I am easy for a date :thumbsu:

I am a 1 Geoff - please put me down as coming :thumbsu:

I just spoke to the guys down at Lime Garage - Warwick to see if they were taking part in the launch weekend of the 20th/21st of September as if they are we might be able to pop down there first prior to the food & drink. He sounded keen to have a few people turn up but he won't commit himself at the moment as they still don't know when the cars will arrive!! The area is painted and waiting and just needing cars. He will phone me back when he knows he will have cars to show off.

Big thanks to Ann & Geoff for been great hosts yesterday. :thumbsu:

Goood food and so much of it, plenty to drink (one advantage of car still been off the road - thanks for the lift Steve) and good company. The weather was ideal too, still sitting outside at 9:00 pm.
