Stereo connector problem

Post by MikeT » Wed Jul 04, 2018 2:41 pm

Any help gratefully received! I just bought a gorgeous 04 MG TF. The stereo was playing up so I bought a new cheapo one with a “Universal connector”. Of course, it doesn’t fit the existing connector in the car (see pic) any advice? I can not find any connector anywhere at all that will fit this!:

As standard TF's have ISO connectors fitted so most head units are simply plug and play.
The connector in the pic isn't an ISO connector, as ISO uses 2 connectors each with 2 rows of 4 pins.
I would first check a bit further along the wires to make sure its not an adapter harness plugged into the original ISO connectors, and if not, either cut the connector off and splice on an ISO or as suggested above, see if you can find an adapter harness to plug into it and to convert it back to ISO.
