Sunday 16th Oct The Autumn National MG & Triumph Show

Post by Chris Tideswell » Mon Aug 15, 2011 11:53 pm

Sunday 16th Oct The Autumn National MG & Triumph Show, Exhibition Hall, Donington Park, don't know if anyone is aware of this one. Hope to have a chat to the chap in charge tomorrow, the slightly vague info I got from his office that the club stands are free.

Not seen this Chris. Might be interested as we have a slack period coming up for events. Donington seem to have a few good events on these days but they have all passed me by  Must keep a better eye out next year :thumbsu:

Entry fee per person is £10 on the door

However if you enter as a club the car is free and you get 2 free passes per car. Take a look at the plan here http://classicshows.org/BookingForms/20 ... g_form.pdf

Each club area will take 3 cars but the club can take 2 area's for 6 cars or 5 cars and a stand.

The set up time is between 7 and 9 AM and the show will finish at 3pm, the cars will need no more then a quarter of a tank of fuel.

Cheers Chris. Will chat about the event at the CM at the weekend. If anyone is interested in showing their cars I will look at getting a stand. Even if we do not attend as a club, it could be a good excuse for a meet and a Sunday lunch :thumbsu:

As we did not get any interest from anyone in displaying cars at the show, we will not be having a stand this year but we could always make it a Sunday lunch/dinner if anyone is visiting the show.

I intend to go and see if it would be worth us having a stand there may be next year as one of our season closing events. We also intend to be at Donington for their Classic weekend early next year.

There is still the Classic Car Show at the NEC still to come this year - as our final main show event.

Was having a chat with the organiser today and it sounds like the club stands and cars on show are just about full but he could do with some more traders. The NLMGC are taking a full club stand of 6 cars and possibly one of Luffields MG6's. Half expect tumble weed to be blowing through the halls but we shall see.

I've been told there will be around 40 traders on Sunday, apparently more would have been there but the generic traders are at a Jaguar show that day. Next years show has already been booked for the 23rd September.

I will keep an eye out for both of you.

The show was smaller than I expected, especially as half of it was set aside for the Triumphs.
Can not see how they can increase the size for next year other than having more clubs based outside the hall. They definitely could fit in more traders but no more clubs into the hall.

There were some amazing cars on show - both MGs and Triumphs.

Was good to catch up with some people that I have not seen for a while. :thumbsu:
