I first visited Scotland in 1976. Since then I've been there 7 times on motorbike trips and 5 previous Highlanders and this years event is up in the top 2 for me.

Huge thanks to Alan and Glen for organising and leading runs - AND thanks to everybody who attended and helped make the weekend so memorable.

See you all in Pitlochry 2011?

Just to echo John's post, Many thanks to all that organised and planned this event. We enjoyed it very much and look forwards to joining you again next year....the only slight point of critisism is about the food.....there was so much of it and we have put on several extra inches over the weekend, but have enjoyed every extra pound (or shoulld that be kilos these days)
Many thanks again,
Simon and Julie

Simon,
Nice images in the General Section :thumbsu:

Alan Dunlop has an idea or two regarding the 2011 format which includes altering the lunch arrangements, so the 'too much food' bit will be sorted for 2011.

I did notice my car was pulling a few more lbs on the way home :D

Nice to meet you both. :)

I am so pleased everyone seemed to have enjoyed the weekend. This was our first official 'Highlander' event and we had a lot to live up to taking over the mantle from Dave Clelland's events of 2004 to 2008. On the whole we were pleased with how it went but have learned a couple of lessons that will allow us to improve it for 2011 at Pitlochry.

As always, it is the people that make a difference and this year was no exception. It is always lovely to see so many old friends and catch up on the previous year. I think there is an extraordinary level of commitment from these regulars who attend year in year out and yet still enjoy it and are always keen to return. And it is great to welcome newcomers venturing out on their first Highlander (and often their first trip to our beautiful country) we hope they will have taken away fond memories and that they will join us again in future years.

I hope everyone had a safe and uneventful trip home and look forward to seeing you all again soon.

Alan

These statistics may seem a bit anal but I'm a Virgo and worked for many years as an accountant so only to be expected -

Total distance from door to door 1192 miles
Driving time 24:51
Max speed 91 mph
Avge speed 48 mph
Smiles 3782 (at least)
Total height gained 15740 meters .

For the 150 miles on Thursday I never got past 50 meters above sea level but Saturday & Sunday made up for it.
