Sunday Run

Post by NigelS » Tue Apr 30, 2013 10:46 pm

Hi All,

Those of us who were at the Dolphin tonight talked about a Sunday (or Saturday) run out to visit Martin Smith at Castle Cary and then on to the Haynes museum at Sparkford for lunch & a look round in the afternoon.

Possible dates (avoiding MG Live, MGCC Race meets, BTCC etc.) are;

1st & 2nd June

22nd & 23rd (clashes with le Mans & BTCC, also probably the same weekend as proposed solstice run)

29th & 30th June

6th & 7th July

13th & 14th July (clashes with Goodwood Festival of Speed)

27th & 28th July

How about these for a starter.

Can you post here if you are interested & which date(s) you prefer and we will go with the majority.

Hi Nigel,

Good to meet some of the AWC members at Dolphin last night, but didn't get time to meet everyone, so I'll have to return next month :thumbsu:

The suggested run and dates, yes I'd be up for this and the dates I'm free are,

June 22nd & 23rd

July 6th & 7th,
13th - I have that as an MGoT Committee meet?
14th - Good, the Monday we are at Castle Combe so could combine the run with a stop over near there.
27th & 28th
Cheers,
Martin

I would love to come along & meet you all !
I have a revolving appointment to collect something from Martin, so this would be an ideal time.
I know my shopping list will grow alarmingly once I know I will be visiting him.
He is a great friendly chap, so be nice to see his set-up again ! I have visited him already last September.

Sundays are best for me. The Early June date is OK, otherwise July will be fine.
I wait to see when you arrange the time & place & I will confirm.
But...... I am very interested to join you guys.

All best Tony !

Nigel,

29/30 June OK.
6/7 July clashes with the Abingdon Works Show which I will be attending.
13/14 July OK
27/28 July OK.

Just a thought is Martin Smith open on a Sunday?

Thanks Nigel.

Only available on 13th/14th and 20th/21st in July.

June's pretty much a write off as I'm at Silverstone the first weekend and then we're off to Le Mans for almost two weeks from the middle of June.

Nigel,

Sorry to be a pain but, due to a change in family arrangements cannot make the 13/14th July but am OK now for the 20th/21st and the 27th /28th as mentioned previously.

PS.

Have just read about the revamp underway at Haynes Museum should be an interesting visit?

Very poor considering I am the secretary but I've just realised that the 20th July is the next Committee Mtg, but since we are talking Sunday and that is the Sat hopefully OK...

Looking through there seems to be a reasonable consensus around 21st July - any thoughts Nigel?

Nigel,
I was down there today and raised the subject of this run as I didn't have enough time to nose around to my complete satisfaction. Probably because the date is still uncertain at this stage, Martin has not been contacted about it. Whilst he is a top MGF man and all that, it is still a business for him and the weekends might rightfully be thought of as his own time. Nevertheless he is delighted to welcome a group of visitors of a weekend day, and generously suggested he might do a buffet. But he does have stuff like MG Live (amongst others) to plan around as well, so if you are getting near a firm date for it, DO check with him first!
Charles
