SCRR Xmas Meal 20th Dec 2012

Post by sparky135 » Tue Aug 21, 2012 8:21 pm

A table has been booked for our Xmas meal at the Buck's head for 20th December 2012. This is a week later than our usual meeting as the TROC booked their Xmas meal last year for our regular second Thursday slot. For this reason there will not be a meet on 13th December.

Fear not. We have got in early for 2013 and have booked the second Thursday in December for our Xmas meal next year. :-D

Further details of this year's meal will be published here nearer to the time.

A turkey's for Christmas - not for life.

I'll be having one of their delicious alternatives. Think I had salmon last year. Bootiful!

If you're that desperate give them a ring.

I know I said I'd pop in and get a copy - and I still intend to do so - but it will be when I get the chance to do so. We're not all retired!!!

Most humble apologies for having lived long enough to retire.
It was touch and go a number of times, but I made it. 8-)

I have 2 options.

1 - Top meself, and stop being a drain on UK.Ltd.
2 - Go down to the Labour Exchange - or whatever it calls itself these days,
and see if they can find me something to do that's not too taxing (HAH !)
for someone of my limited abilities.

Unfortunately, the Christmas Menu is not available to download, and I'm not spending
£50 on petrol to go and collect one.

For crying out loud! I can't believe what I'm reading here. Let's get this into some sort of perspective. We are talking about a menu for a Xmas meal here. Get a grip folks! I don't know why some people seem to be making such an issue of this.

What I don't understand is why it takes several weeks to choose a starter, main course and sweet from a menu which has fewer choices than a standard menu at any of the regular places we visit and from which, ordinarily, it only takes moments to choose. The order and deposit does not have to be in until December. We will have the menu in plenty of time to make our choices before then.

I clearly stated at the last meeting at the BH that I would collect a copy of the menu to publish here when it became available. It only became available last week. Unfortunately, due to other commitments I haven't had chance to collect one yet. For that I can only apologise. Sadly, as I alluded to in my previous post, I'm not in a position in life yet where I can just drop everything to go running round in pursuit of what is, to all intents and purposes, a hobby. I'm quite happy to put myself out on your behalf to organise this but please respect the fact that I have other commitments and priorities too. I will get the menu and publish it here at the earliest possible opportunity but if that is not good enough, as stated in my previous post, you are more than welcome to phone Maggie directly.

Ruth, it saddens me that you saw fit to twist my words in the way you did. My post was not aimed at you directly - you weren't the only one mithering about the menu. I would have quoted you if I was aiming it directly at you. There at least 2 more posts on the subject of the menu prior to yours. I regard you as a highly intelligent lady but your previous post does you no credit IMHO. I was merely trying to point out that, as mentioned, I have other priorities in life. I'm sorry you chose to take that the wrong way and respond in the way you did.

I'll post the menu as soon as I have it.

The way I feel right now it's not so much a case of what I'm having as whether I'm going! :thumbsd:

My menu request was a light-hearted response following previous posts.

Your response seemed rather overwrought, and yes - I took it personally.

In fact it upset my whole day, and so I left it for a while, until I felt like replying.

I don't regret my response - it was done when I no longer felt upset, and therefore
no malice was intended - just a nudge.

Maybe we both were a little oversensitive.

Either way, I can take Christmas Dinner or leave it.

Apologies for any offense taken. But none for not sitting quietly.

Now, now children we're talking about Christmas, get a grip. As Peter says how long does it take to chose Turkey and Xmas Pudding. Have a little patience everybody - SCRR Christmas will happen on the 20th December!!!!! Party hats and baloons ago-go - see you all there.
Just thought I'd throw my pennyworth in!!!!!
