Sunday 16th March Drive out (SALISBURY AREA)

Post by mgfsoldier » Tue Feb 18, 2014 7:36 pm

Ok after requests from people for a weekend meet I am planning a Sunday Drive out around the area starting and finishing at the Solstice park Service area at 10:00 on the 16th of March.

The route will be around 100 miles of back roads trying to avoid traffic and get out on some enjoyable roads the trip should last around 4 hours with an extra 2 hours for food and a chat. The approximate route will be
Solstice park
Porton
West Tytherley
Lockerley
Romsey
Michelmersh
Stockbridge
Chilbolton
Longparish
Hurstbourne Tarrant
Kintbury
Hungerford
Marlbourgh
Upavon (Ship Inn for late lunch around 1400)
Solstice park (around 1600 for dispersal)

I am planning to drive the route beforehand and identify a stopping point for group photographs along the route.

I only got back from a couple of weeks away this morning so couldn't make the drive, but popped over to the Ship about 3 but no sign of anything. I hope you had a great run with the best weather of the year so far. Next time...

Sorry we had a few mechanical issues.
1 car leaking coolant and kept over heating
And my downpipe sheared so we cut it short and finished up at Longparish.

On a lighter note we found an F at the pub that is in dire need of being rescued and one of the convoy is going back tomorrow to buy it at scrap value and fix it up.

Sorry to hear about those issues on such a glorious driving day - a sheared downpipe is a bit uncommon (extreme decat)! I did spy a yellow TF(sunstorm?) in a car park on RHS just coming into Upavon from Ludgershall - was that any of your party?

No but I did see it on Friday when I passed through that way.

It looks like the weld failed at the cat end of the downpipe. Cheapo ebay job, got another one fitted today
