We drove passed yesterday and the old place is looking all spruced up and packed by the look of the car park. So maybe its worth giving it a go again? Am afraid we didn't have time to pop in...

We had lunch with the AWC MG guys on Friday, to discover the pub has had a complete rather cold and uncosy make-over with the two bars now joined together. The landlord was very welcoming and the Speckled Hen is still served but in my opinion the food was OK but appears to have gone rather 'designer' and slightly more expensive. One is always suspicious when things are served up on a funny shaped plate and I've never had my fish & chips where the chips are served up in a half pint beer jug..! ( = not a lot) and I don't know what the peas were about ! Anybody else want to try it out?
