the M27 / M3 at that time - providing on getting out of Poole and its environs

I shall give myself a couple of hours, I think.
If you come off M3 at J13 Eastleigh follow to Fair Oak. Watch out for speed cameras especially after coming off the bridge over railway at Eastleigh going into Fair Oak. Fair Oak to Lower Upham to Bishops Waltham to Meonstoke has some nice stretches of fast country roads. Poole to Eastleigh c1hour on a good day. Eastleigh to Bucks Head 20 to 30 mins. so your 2 hours probably not far out!

Alternatives: M27 to J7 then up through Botley to Bishops Waltham or M27 to J11 and the up A32. Not sure either will save much time but J7 probably the nicer of the 2 alternatives IMHO.

If you are using M3 J13 route keep an eye out for Le Mans Green TF heading in the same direction after Lower Upham!

HTH

Look forward to welcoming you to the SCRR nosh & natter!

Thanks Alistair.

I'd pretty much travelled the 2 M27 > routes via Googlemaps and Streetview.
I've yet to check out the M3 one.

It's fun spotting landmarks that way.
I have travelled to Kimber House via Streetview, on a cold autumn day,
and I know what the front door looks like. :?
Actually going there will be deja-vuish.

EDIT - Hmmm - Eastleigh looks like somewhere to be avoided- it's too urban - so I think it will be
Botley.
To get onto the A32 from the M27 travelling east is indescribable. I think the Planners of Roads
must have been stoned out of their trees the day they decided to let the A32 pass under the M27
with absolutely NO northerly access whatsoever from the eastbound motorway !!!

What a shower.

How about on 9 September? Oh look there is another thread about it! :thumbsu:

Good run home but started to spit with rain halfway to Bishops Waltham Then we had to stop in Bishops Waltham to put the hood up as it hissed down! Wasn't going fast enough to keep dry due to a desire to stay within the speed limit abley assisted by a bl**dy great tractor trundling along in front of the queue of cars.

Hope you all got the hoods up before you/car interior got wet.

Looking forward to 9 September. Ruth - hope you will join us again. :yeah:

Got home at about 11.15, after being guided to the M27 via A32 by The Sparkies.

Yes, it was a very pleasant evening - even if I couldn't finish my ice cream.

See you at the Dolphin at the end of the month and we'll see about The Bucks Head again
closer to the time.
It's a great place. :D
