What's 'snorkers' ?
Is it pejorative ?
One needs to know.

The expression Snorkers! Good-oh! comes from the all-time classic film The Cruel Sea. It was spoken by Lt Bennet (played by Stanley Baker) while serving on the Compass Rose as his evening meal of sausages was being served up.
The word snorkers is believed to have orignated on submarines in WWII and refers to "Palethorpes pre-cooked tinned sausages". The term snorkers has since become a common naval slang term for any kind of sausage.
Every day's a school day.

I remember Palethorpes Sausages. Can't remember if we ever had them tinned though.
p.s.......evaporated milk is still a tradition in our family.
It thickens tea nicely.

At least I've learnt something today!
Seriously though, aiming to be there on the 28th as my diary says I am in Salisbury on that day.

I've just been looking on the AWC website and it looks like this meet will be a Quiz night so start revising now.
I'm hoping there is going to be a question about snorkers.

There seems every chance of luring the Mrs out as well for her first Dolphin meet. My payday tomorrow, so we can maybe afford to eat (now you see the coincidence); not sure about a quiz though...

Sorry we couldn't make it this evening, folks. Chris wasn't feeling well and I wasn't 100% either. Nothing serious - just a bit out of sorts. Couldn't face the drive and the sausages I'm afraid.
Hope you all had a good time. Hope to see you at the Bucks Head on the 14th Oct.

You were missed, Sparkies - but we soldiered on and the Quiz was postponed until next time.
Take care of yourselves.
