Anyone been to techspeed?

Post by Nicktg » Wed Jan 09, 2008 12:04 pm

Right, I'm off to Techspeed on Friday at 9:00 to get my cam belts done, has anyone used them before?
I know they come recommended, but I was wondering if there's anything to do around there, as I'll be pretty much stuck in the area until the car is back on the road!
Any recommendations for how to fill the hours (pubs nearby etc?) would be appreciated...cheers

Use them regularly, as do quite a few others on the forum. In fact I know some who travel half the length of the country to use their services. I have the benefit of only living 5 mins away though :D

They are located in a small village, which is basically no more then a couple of dozen houses and a pub.
If you ask them nicely they will drop you of in one of the nearby towns such as Leamington or Warwick where you can kill time, or if you have an interest in cars then you could just hang round the workshop as they normally have a few interesting raceand road cars in, and don’t normally mind you wandering round having a good look.

I've used them - they were happy for me to put on overalls watch learn and help!

Perhaps we should arrange a club visit to them. Anyone else interested?

Do you think you could enquire when you're there Nick? :thumbsu:

Wow, my car feels so much smoother now! had the cams & alternator belts done, oil, filter, suspension and a general look over by the guys - advised slight play in the bottom ball joints, but they'll last a while at the mileage I do. :thumbsu:

Techspeed were brilliant I had a look around, then they dropped me into Leamington Spa for a wander round, picked me up after 4 hours and brought me back.

They run a BTCC team Astras, had an imaculate MGB and had two 1973 BMW CSLs in there as well, they used to run MGF cup team as well.

So I can now say my car is maintained by a BTCC team! Seriously though for 40 odd quid an hour, the service was great and I feel so much more confident in ragging the car now it's had its belts done.

Rich I asked about a tour (it'd be a lovely drive there in the sun!) and was told to get in touch with Roy who wasnt there that day, so I'll dig out his number, I'll have a chat with you at the pub meet on 20th.

Good news Nick. I'd be up for a visit. I need a 45,000 mile service in the next 1000 miles and would be very happy if they did that at a discount by way of a demonstration vehicle ;)

Cheers

I know they are very good at servicing - do they do mot's as well? or do they have a place locally where they get them done?

The easy answer is to give them a call and ask. I am sure that the answer would be 'No'. I do not believe that they have brake testing rollers for a start.
Their business is Track car Preperation. Out of season and during slack periods, then they will accomadate MG work due to their early experience with them.
