Car History
Because it is so quiet in our bit of the Forum I have knicked this topic from the main board. What is your car driving history? I have quite a list and it includes a Marina My list starts in 1976 and years shown are the models'
1966 Austin Cambridge (Farina)
1968 Austin 1100
1972 MG Midget 1275
1968 Austin Cambridge
1974 Mini Clubman 1100 Saloon
1977 Mini Clubman 1100 Estate
1977 Morris Marina 1300 Coupe
1978 MG Midget 1500
1978 Renault 12TS
1980 Renault 20TS
1984 Austin Maxi 1750
1968 Wolesely 16/60 (Second car)
1969 MGBGT
1974 MGBGT
1990 Austin Montego Estate
1992 Rover 214si
1992 Vauxhall Cavalier
1994 Vauxhall Cavalier
1977 MGB Roadster
1996 - 2002 a variety of Peugeot 406's and 306's
1996 MGF 1.8i
1990 Mercedes 180
1994 Jeep Cherokee
2002 Jaguar S Type (Current)
2001 MGF Steptronic (Current)
Of all the cars, excluding the MGs, the best was a 406 HDI. At that time it was the drive of my life. The second best was the Maxi. Drove like a big Mini and had so much room. It was the only 5 speed box I could drive comfortably at 30 mph in town in fifth gear.
Cars I wish I'd had but missed for various reasons were a 1968 MG Magnette Farina, a 1968 Triumph Herald convertible, an Escort RS 2000, a Triumph 2000 TC and a BL Wolesley 2200 (wedge shape).
Cheers
Dave

Re: Car History
That's a lot of MG's Rich!
I thought 'no prob I can easily list them', then when i started I couldn't quite remember details, and even getting confused as to the order of some of them! Well here goes, the list in the right order, but no dates or ages as I haven't a clue for most of them! As you can probably tell, quite a few of them were company cars and not really my choice!
Ford Fiesta 950 Popular
Ford Escort 1.4L
Volkswagen Golf Convertible
Volvo 480es
Honda Civic
Ford Mondeo LX 1.8TD
Vauxhall Vectra 2.0d
Renault Scenic
Ford Mondeo LX 1.8i
Fiat Coupe 20v turbo
Volvo 850 2.5i Estate
Seat Alhambra
Renault Espace
Volkswagen Polo Genesis 1.3
Ford Mondeo Si 2.0
Ford Scorpio 2.3 ultima Estate
Land Rover Freelander 1.8 XEi Station Wagon (Current)
MGF 1.8i (Current)
....... And a Yamaha Xj600s Diversion (Current)
Also, somewhere in the middle of the list, whilst I was waiting for one of my company cars to be delivered, the lease company gave me some kind of Hyundai in sports trim, it was quite possibly the worst car I have ever driven, and the 6 weeks I had that I just couldn't wait for it to go! It was such a forgettable car, I can't even remember what the model of it was!

Re: Car History
Apart from Rich, there is a marked lack of BMC and derivative companies' cars
Maybe Stu and Nick were too young or just had better taste
Cheers

Re: Car History
I learned to drive in a Peugeot 205 diesel. Took me six weeks, two hours per week. And my driving instructor was totally useless so I ended up just using him as practice and did my own thing. I drove where I wanted, with the radio on, and just checked that I had covered all the manouvres I needed to know. I was ok with the highway code as I'd passed my bike test a few years before. Very lucky I think!

Re: Car History
Need to add a car to the collection. I've just moved the Escort on and added a Rover 220 SD to the family. Now we're all MGR! It's Tahiti Blue so a perfect companion for the F and I've named it 'Sid'... And before anyone asks, I'm not doing the sad thing and MGing it... It may have ZR accessories in the future but will remain badged a Rover. Of course, it's got Southmids Sportsters stickers on it already!

My list isn't too bad for a 21 year old eh, ooppsss, I mean 25 year old.
