Hell Fire Pass -15th March

Post by ClaraW » Tue Jan 21, 2014 6:55 pm

The plan is to meet either at the Meirion Mill or the Halt Café, blasting up Hellfire pass, down the valley from Lake Vrynwy to Bala, over the moors via a gated road to the A470. Then a run homewards down the A470 to the Bluebell at Llangurig for a meal/snack/coffee/convenience break/whatever ::)

This run might take 3.5/4.0 hours excluding photo stops from the Halt Café, so I'm thinking of an early snack/ lunch at the Halt, press on until we get to the Bluebell late afternoon before a blast down the A470 to the homeland.

Final details will be issued nearer the time

List so far:
Jerry
Ken & Clara
Andy & Jan
Paul & Fran (and the penguins)
Andrew & Cherie
Chris Hathaway
Gary
Andrew & Cherie

We may well look at taking a ride down with the north west lads for this , weather depending - as if it rains its a long way in peeing rain

The more the merrier- just let us know if you are joining us so we know numbers

Say meet/coffee for 10.30 at the Halt café, leave at 11.00 latest, a quick snack/toilet break at the Meirion Mill, also on the A470 from 12.00 to 13.00 before we head uphill.

A couple of scenic stops on the way (top of Hell Fire pass, Bala lake etc). This bit doesn't really have any food/ comfort choices, so it may be wise to bring a few nibbles to eat on the move until we hit the Bluebell.. I will check forum for confirmation of any last min additions the night before

Not required, but some of us will be eating at the Bluebell - the choice of going straight home or sitting down and eating is yours.

If possible, please give some me a clue as to numbers for the Bluebell. Liz and Dewi are very accommodating if you just want a coffee/treacle pudding etc.

Jerry has said we will need to leave by 9, so I'd suggest meeting around 8.30/8.45 at the services off M4 Junc 33.

A couple more confirmed to be requiring food, so the list for Bluebell now stands at:

Jerry
Jan & Andy
Gary Weller
Chris Hathway
Rob Preece
Dawn Peachey
Bri Davis
Oz & Louise
Paul & Fran
Signal & Elaine
Dale & Nette
Russell & Stacey

Waiting to confirm:

Andrew & Cherie
Dawn Davies (from Facebook group)
Guvs - are you still coming?
Jo & Nigel

Simon & Jules possibly with a 'gang' from up north

Many thanks to all that turned out for what was a truly superb run. A day of top down motoring along fantastic roads with glorious scenery- what more could we ask for? Good friends and good food- well we got all that too.

Looking forward to the next one already!

I've created an album on the South Wales MG Facebook page with some photos from the run South Wales MG Hellfire Pass Run but I'm not sure whether those without a FB account will be able to view them though, so I've also uploaded some to our website - http://southwalesmg.co.uk/2014/03/16/hellfiremarch14/

A quick couple of pics for those who prefer to view on here-
