An Evening with Ian Pogson

"The best-handling TF ever from Longbridge – A Chief Engineer’s considered view"

Ian will cover the following:-

1.The testing and planning behind the re-launch of the LE500

2. The planning and execution of the best-handling TF ever; the 85th Anniversary

3. Living and working in China – a humorous look at a culture clash

Great news for us is that Jerry and myself have been busy behind the scenes and have almost finished putting together a very Special evening for us.

A little while ago i sent Ian Pogson MGTF 85th Anniversary Project Manager and Chief Engineer an email asking him if there was anything he could do for SWMGF as we missed a tour of Longbridge Factory by a whisker few months back, sadly they where almost at end of production line then and not so much to see, Ian at that time suggested to me that he may be able to do something in near future for us, then few days ago i had another email from Ian offering us a visit down here in South Wales,he tells me that he will bring an 85th Anniversary car down with him that you can have a little drive of,he will also bring lots of photo's and do a slide show and talk.
On top of this Jerry has been into MG Cardiff aka Fordthornes, and they have offered their showroom for the evening inc nibbles and tea/coffee, they also have something under wraps which we can have a look at when we get there ;D and if that isn't enough MGCC General Manager Julian White would also like to attend the evening ;D the evening would start from when they have finished business say from 6pm or so onwards and we have the facility for as long as the evening takes, i would say due to people working and traffic rush hour to get to Cardiff a good time to start and be there is 7pm

As Dave says above, the date is confirmed :thumbsu:

The evening will be on the theme "“The best-handling TF ever from Longbridge – A Chief Engineer’s considered view"

He will cover the following:-

The testing and planning behind the re-launch of the LE500
The planning and execution of the best-handling TF ever; the 85th Anniversary
Living and working in China – a humorous look at a culture clash

So, anyone in the S West/S Wales is very welcome to come along and be entertained along with an 85th by Ian, especially for those who missed out on the factory visits (like me  )

Coffee/nibbles will be provided until as late as you feel like stopping and asking questions ;)

Dave, please say hi to Ian for me, he is the greatest of entertaining speakers in the MG world, he will keep you informed and amused believe me. We still write, although he is currently back in China, he always finds the time to keep in touch, that's good in my book.

If he brings copies of his book, buy it and have a good and entertaining read, he'll autograph it for you too.

But, most of all.......................TURN UP you will be entertained. I would even make the journey but I'm working 3-11.
Bilstein shocks, Piper 4-2-1 manifold, Daytona, Vader cold-air induction, custom Z and F Stage 2 re-map, Electric boot release, braided hoses, Blue Magnecor leads, Technozen relays, Stage 1 head, BMW Angel Eyes headlights, "MG" puddle lights.

I have just read Ian's book.
Very entertaining and informative and one can also read BETWEEN the lines gaining an insight into the problems
associated with automobile production in China.

Apart from the automotive content it gives an interesting and humerous view of a facinating China. Their outlook on life is oh so very different to ours.

Thanks to Dave and all involved in organising the event.

An excellent evening as ever with the very entertaining Mr. Pogson! A hint at what might be coming in the future after the MG6, which the production lines are currently being set up at Longbridge for. I can't tell you anything else as we were sworn to secrecy!
