Pride of Longbridge Rally - 12/04/08

Post by Jonathan Tully » Tue Apr 08, 2008 12:36 am

:D 3rd Annual Pride of Longbridge Rally :D

The third annual Pride of Longbridge Rally is being held on Saturday, 12th April 2008.

A procession of Longbridge-built cars will gather from 10am at junction 2 of the M42 (Hopwood Services) and at around 11am start to leave for the Longbridge factory at 'Q' Gate and Cofton Park.

This is a national event, so there should be a good turnout.

Is anybody up for this? After missing Brooklands I am very tempted :D

The Essex Roadsters are goin up the A14 so I reckon we could join their convoy up to Hopwood Services. I was thinking of maybe meeting at Cambridge 'Extra' service station on the A14:

Hi Jon,

I'm having a little trouble finding someone to lead the convoy for Southmids Sportsters, due to the fact that I am going directly to Cofton Park early to assist Tim with the F Reg stand. I have suggested on our thread that our lot could meet up with you at Telford Lodge, Kettering, on the A14 in a similar fashion as you merging with Essex Roadsters. And idea of the time you may be passing and would you be interested in doing this?

I don't see why not. I have posted on the Essex Roadster forum. Hopefully they are up for it. Once they decide what time they are meeting up at the previous stops, then we can work out what the later stop off's will be.

Seems we're having a problem getting the enthusiasm from our lot for this one at the moment. What are they like? Unless I get any further feedback, we may have to abandon this idea. I think one or two of them had planned to head directly to Hopwood already. At least I tried....!

Fair enough Rich,

Keep me posted if they change their minds. I think as we will be pushed for time they will be very quick stop-offs anyway, just picking up the cars - with not much time to chat with the convoy already on route - until we get to Hopwood.

Cheers

Right I have heard nothing from Essex Roadsters, so here is the plan and my logic is this:

maps.google says that it will take 2 hours to get to Hopwood services (postcode B48 7AU) from Cambridge Services:
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en ... iwloc=addr

They say we should meet up at 10:00 am for an 11:00 depart, but I think 10:30 is a more realistic meet up time - or it is not worth going to bed.

So we meet up at Cambridge Services (Swayfield) at the Swavesey / Boxworth exit on A14 at about 08:30 am
see you bright and early :)

If I hear anything from Essex Roadsters that would be fab, as I do like a good convoy :D

Cheers

If anyone is thinking of going straight to Cofton park, here is alink of the route from Hopwwod to Cofton: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=Bir ... 75438&z=13

I think that Sat Nav'ers will need to type Lowhill Lane, Longbridge to get the destination to work.

Hi John,

sorry nothing from the roadsters. Nobody seems to be communicating. If I don't hear anything between now and tomorrow morning I may try and meet up with you at Cambridge Services. Will need to leave BS by 7:30 for a 8:30 meet. Might see you tomorrow morning.

Good day, and the weather was good for the most part - Although I don't think that my hood has been up and down so much in a single day
