Have posted a Hi on the main site - also asking the question about where to find a decent garage around EA. I saw Jon asked that same question a while back, but couldn't see any response - hope that doesn't mean here isn't one
Although I've only just picked my new toy up and hope to have several months of trouble-free driving - you never know and I always think it's best to be prepared. I have already noticed that the central locking is a bit 'noisy' and the unlock / lock mechanism seems a little tempramental (that might just be me needing to get used to her special ways and little noises).
Well, I'm no petrol head - am fairly clueless when it comes to the mechanics etc of cars, but I do love to chat. So, I will be on here or the main site frequently and whenever I am I will say Heya
Hello everybody - peeps

Hi Bluebelle, and welcome back to MG Ownership
I saw your post on the main board. Noisy central locking can be an indication of problems, but it is easy to over worry about things in an MG. Usually it is just part of its charm
I don't know a lot about the lock mechanism, but I have heard good advise that if it is on its way to being broken, then you should not deadlock (double-lock) the car until it is fixed. One of our technical advisors may be able to expand on this in the Technical forum.

Unfortunately I do not know of any garages to personally recommend near Norwich.
I am quite lucky in that I have two different MG F/TF specialists, just down the road from me, so I rarely travel further afield. They are both 60 odd miles from Norwich though :
TWIN MOTOR COMPANY
Unit 1a, Pound Lane, Sutton, Ely, Cambridgeshire, CB6 2PR
Tel: 07884 226716
MG OWNERS' CLUB WORKSHOP
Octagon House, 1 Over Road, Swavesey, Cambridge, CB24 4QZ
Tel: 01954 234001

I am aware of Apollo sports cars but don't really know anything about them, or whether they have the correct equipment to service modern MG's.
Also there is the new dealership in Norwich: http://www.holdengroup.co.uk/ or http://www.dealer.mg-uk.co.uk/norwich/ Again I haven't used them. They should have all the necessary equipment, but I would expect to pay dealership prices.
==================================================
I hope this helps. You will have to let us know what you thought of their service after you have used them, or if you find any others then please let us know.
Anyway, hopefully see you about soon. P.S We need to see some pictures of the new car

Re: Hello everybody - peeps
Hey Jon - all very useful so thanks.
I think I may have tracked an MG specialist down - he is a the step-dad of a friend of mine and used to work at MG Rover. Since their demise he has set up his own business in Besthorpe. Don't have the full details, but when I do I will let you know.
I will be going back to the traders I bought the MG off in the next week or so, they are going to put my personal plates back on when I get the reg docs and I will get them to have a look at the central locking. The car came with 3 months warranty, so I'd best use that while I can. I will take your advice though and not deadlock until I get it sorted.
I will also do a search on central locking in the technical section as you suggest - so I go armed with a bit of info and don't get treated like a dippy clueless girlie
Will post pics soon - promise
