Wishbone replacement MGF2001

Hi All,
I am new to this site and the MGF so i need some help to change the front wishbones on the car as one has rusted and holed could someone please tell me if i would be able to do this job at home, your help would be most welcome .

Hi Phill,

yes this can be done at home, provided you have a decent set of tools, axle stands and some knowledge with spannering. Not an easy first job on an MGF though. The front subframe has to be lowered and for this the steering column must be disconnected from the rack. Subframe bolts frequently snap when you try to remove them which means they have to be drilled out carefully and the thread re-cut.

Once you get to it, the wishbone itself is easy to replace, two large bolts each and the clamp bolt that secures the lower ball joint to the hub.
