Possibly you are not taking it to the right repair shop.....
Where are you based and maybe somebody could suggest somewhere near you that can do the job properly this time....

Colne Lancashire.
Both repairs at same garage but they now suggest block may have warped.
Anyone used steel seal ?

nnnoooooooooo, that stuff will just block every orifice in the engine.
I doubt the block is warped, the head could have gone soft, or the liners could have dropped, I would guess the later if its on its 3rd HGF, pretty easy for a garage to check, would require the head to be removed though. I suggest Mg Rover Solutions, as he will be honest and up front with you, and will not charge you if the engine is scrap.
If the liners have dropped, the block is pretty much scrap, as its has softened and will not get that back, if its the head that's warped or softened, then he will be able to exchange a good head for you.
I would doubt the garage messed it up (could happen), but its pretty straight forward to do a HG on these, and its not much to it, I would be looking at the above for causes of the repeats.

Is the HGF not the effect of some other failure?
If the root cause is not found and rectified then sure enough HGF will happen again

Hence my point about liners, as that would be the cause of the repeats.colintf wrote:Is the HGF not the effect of some other failure?
