Odometer Reading

Post by ansam99 » Thu Nov 28, 2013 5:25 pm

My speedometer has stopped working so I have bought a replacement set. I presume these can be simply swopped. However the odometer reading is not the same as that recorded by my recent MoT. Is there a way to adjust the odometer to reflect the true reading. Any advice gratefully received.

could be the speed sensor or wiring fault rather than a clock fault, have you had it checked first?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

You don't say which model you have, on early cars with a mechanical counter the digits can be adjusted but on later cars with the digital counter I don't think you can change the recorded mileage (although I guess if you had a brand new one you would be able to set the mileage using T4).

Thank you it is an early one for an 'F'. Can I just turn the numbers to the required reading

When we bought our '97 VVC it still had the Japanese KMS speedo. Bought a MPH set from MGFnTFBITZ and managed to adjust it, simple job - Where are you based?

Shortly after buying the car the speedo stopped, then the power steering, because the cable had broken at the gearbox. Check this first!

You can adjust the mileage on any of the clocks pre-SIAC as i'm unsure on the ones from the last models. ;)
