Dorset - MG Servicing ?

Hi everyone, 1st post in the West of England Forums, but I am hoping someone can help me out a little.

I just got hold of my 1st MGF, a 1.8i VVC on a 97 plate - 90,000 miles on the clock, and think it would be worthwhile getting it in for a decent service.

I live in Bovington, Nr Wareham, and was wondering of the best place to take it, and also what sort of service you could recommend along with rough prices so I dont get ripped of ...... what with being a newbie to the MG world and all that ;)

Thanks

Craig

Are these any good?

H.A.S MG ROVER Ltd

And if so, what service, and what is an average price I should be looking before getting ripped off ?

Hi Craig,

Welcome to the forum and the wonderful world of MG motoring. Most of the West of England members live in the Somerset area or on the Somerset/Dorset border, but hopefully Andie who comes from Dorset will be able to offer a suggestion or two on good garages in Dorset. Do you know if your engine has had its head gasket replaced? If you're unsure it's worth having it replaced, as the F engine is prone to Head Gasket Failure. Looking on the Xpart website, HAS Rover are a Xpart approved service centre, so they should be ok. I'll look at my last service bill tonight and will post the labour charge to give you an idea of costs.

Hope this helps,

Nigel

Craig,

The last service (45K) on my 2004 TF135 cost £118 for labour, but this did include an MOT and a wheel bearing replacement. Not too bad really as a 90K service for the ZS180 cost over £400! :x

Hope to see you at an event in the near future.

Nigel

Cheers mate, I got in touch with H.A.S, who reccomended a 96, 000 service, which worked out at £235 all in, includes all fluids/Filters changed, and a 50 point check ?

Sounds good ~ particularly as the car is new to you. You can make sure it's fully serviced so that you can enjoy it to the full!
