Thanks for your reply to my first posting.
The Abingdon has finally come down of the axle stands, the paintwork has been revived using a MOP (great bit of kit) with:
- Mequiar's Ultimate Compound
- Autoglym Super Resin Polish
- Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection
The finish is well worth the effort, hope the photos reflect this.
The first run went quite well, a short road test and return to base to check everything over, no major problems except for speedo not working(stripped apart & fixed now), offside & 3rd brake light remains on (still to do), oil temp gauge goes to max with ign on(suspect wiring earthing somewhere). I've done a couple more runs clocking up twenty miles & mechanically so far so good, it feels great to have finally got back behind the wheel and she's looking good too. A new hood is on order from BAS, so that'll be the last major job (without tempting
fate) just in time for the fine weather & summer months ahead. Oh and I managed to get in contact with the original owner today, the chap purchased the Abingdon new from a garage in Hampshire for just over £20k, sold it eighteen months later & she then spent the rest of her life in Wales having five different owners until I repatriated her last year.
