Track day anyone??

Post by Hainsie » Tue Aug 24, 2010 8:24 pm

After our brief burn around the Castle Coombe circuit, I'm fancying a sedate (to start with :D ) session on the track with some like minded individuals.

Anyone up for this sometime??

Coombe would be ideal.

I've always wanted to do that. I have this deep need to turn squiggley roads into straight lines.

How does one approach it insurance-wise, and just what do you mean by 'sedate' ?

One way to experience a track day is to join one of the events that MGs on Track organise.

MGs on track is a branch of the MGCC and they organise events around the country. They are at Castle Combe on the 6th September but it looks like they are sold out. http://www.mgs-on-track.com/

Just visited the Castle Combe site.

It appears they have 'Ladies Only' track days. :?

Don't they know we've had the vote for nearly 100 years ?
Perhaps I'm being a bit over-sensitive, but when I see things like
that I wonder what I burned my bra for back in the 60s.

You do take a mean piccy Stu:thumbsu:

Looking at some of the "nutters" going round the circuit when we went to Coombe made me think that doing a track day with a bunch of fellow novices would be a better idea really, hence my "sedate to start with" comment. I'm sure as confidence builds, things get a little quicker :D

I too, don't fancy thrashing hell out of my car though.

I'll contact Mgs on track and see what they suggest if a group of us fancy it next year at Coombe.

Good idea Steve, I have only been "on track" once. That was a day out at Brands some years ago
Be good to have a go, gently

I would really recommend going via MGs On Track. I've seen and heard so many horror stories of other track days!

PM MikeH on here, Mike will be able to help!!

As for me, probably not. But i look forward to Spa next year!

Have you read the artricle in this month's Safety Fast about someone's experience with MGs onTrack at Castle Coombe? Recommended paying £10 to go out with one of the instructors.

I read that too, hence the thought in my mind! :D

I think a bit of guidance would be a good investment

I'll get in touch with Mike H as Colin suggests.
