MGF Engine up to temp very quickly

Post by Stretchydan » Wed May 07, 2014 11:53 am

Hi,
It might be me i'm not sure, hence why some guidance would be helpful. Our MGF 1.8VVC gets up to operating temperature seemingly very quickly or at least to me it gets up to temp very quickly, possibly close to 3 miles down the road. Is this right? Could the ECU temp sensor be faulty? I have posted before about the fan being on when driving and staying on until the engine is turned off and many of the replies suggested the Temp sensor, could this be the same problem?

Thanks,
Danny

Thanks,
Danny

They warm up quickly because they don't hold a lot of coolant, which is one of the reasons why low coolant levels are such an issue with these engines - loose even a little and you have reduced the total by a significant percentage.

They were designed to warm up quickly, 3 miles is about right.
