25-27 May'12 5th Iberian Meeting

Post by madrid » Wed Feb 01, 2012 9:25 am

Hi there!

I hope everything is all right for the MGF Register community in UK and the rest of Europe. We are now working in the organization of our yearly event, the Iberian Meeting. As you may know, our Spanish group use to meet the Portuguese one once a year, to enjoy our cars, the people and the food. Of course, I would like to invite any of you that want to spend some days abroad to join us.

This year will be the 5th consecutive time that we will meet together, this time in Spain (we do it alternatively between both countries). It will be on the last weekend of May, from the 25th to the 27th, at Puebla de Sanabria, near the north side of the border of our two countries, here: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=puebla+ ... a&t=m&z=12.

You can check the pictures of the previous meetings in our web site: http://www.mgftf.com Hint: Encuentro Ibérico means Iberian meeting ;)

We are managing to close all the data of hotels, restaurants and activities, but I can tell you that we are doing our best to have a lovely weekend of fun, as it was on the previous years. As all this data is still not closed, I cannot publish it, but if any of you need any further information, please contact me and it will be my pleasure help you with any kind of assistance that you may need for the trip or the weekend itself.

Hi madrid,

 I'm realy sorry because, just like Colintf, my MG's diary is full, with six events (between 3 and 12 days each) this year !

I'll keep in mind your "Iberian Meeting" in Portugal next year; may I hope it will happend in May as wel ?

It would be great if you could make a first annoncement earlier in 2013, even if you have only the dates, so that we can keep that period free to participate in your meeting.

:thumbsu: I wish you great fun ! :)

Thanks a lot Marina, and also I'm sorry that you won't join us. Unfortunatelly, we are more a group than a club (I hope the difference is clear ;) ) and we organize it with the effort of the oldest members, taking time out of our free and sleep time  and we don't use to have everything sorted in such advance.

Even more, this year it's being an effort from our side  to have a lot of details ready now.

Please don't take May as the date for next year, the previous meetings took place during May or September mainly, that are the best months either Spain or Portugal in terms of weather. It would be interesting to have a fixed date, but during the last four years my life and the life of my Portuguese friend have changed a lot   and we couldn't fix the date. Once we stop having children I hope things will change ;)

I understand your situation ;) , next year I'll contact you (or maybe Nacho) to ask if you are able to give me some news, before choosing other meetings.

Looks good again Nacho - keep us updated and hopefully some members may be able to get along - I see its not too far from the Santander ferry for UK cars - I think the website should be www.mgftf.com !

The more notice we get Nacho the better the chance that we can attend.

Some of us have to submit days off holiday at the end of the previous year or very early in any given year.

You're absolutely right, thanks for the correction ;)

Yes, Puebla de Sanabria is very closed to Santander, in addition, the roads from Santander to Puebla are very beautiful, so you will enjoy all the time spent in Spain.

We are expecting around 20-25 cars, from all the corners of Iberian peninsula, what will be for sure the biggest number ever in our countries.

We are talking with three hotels and several restaurants to have the better offer for the group. To help in an aproximate budget, I can say that hotel will cost around 60/70€ per night, two people, car, breakfast and taxes included; the main meals will be around 15/20€ per person. This is for this year, but usually we work with these amounts, enough to have good quality in Spain or Portugal when it's well managed. 95oct petrol today in Spain is around 1,40€ per litre.

Hello Nacho,
please let us know too when the 6. Encuentro Iberico will be.
We love Spain, and we will stay for 2 Weeks in 2013. But we have the same problem like Marina and Colin, we must know the Date of your event early,
best in December 2012, we must save in Dec. our Holidays for the complete Year in our Company.
We wish you a great event, we are so sorry.....perhaps we win in lottery on Weekend than we stay for 2 or 3 Years

I presume this is a F/TF meeting (I couldn't check the website, as my iPad does not display Flash sites).
Do you expect other MG's to attend as well ? We are still looking for a holiday destination during that period, but need to use the ZT-T (2 adults, 1 child)

Hi ErikB,

Yes, you're right, it's a F/TF oriented event. No other MGs or Rovers expected  I'm really sorry.

Hello Nacho, I am also interested in the Iberian meeting for next year and would love to come with friends. We go to Australia for two months in March and we have to book our flights quite early. Perhaps you could let us know when you have made a decision on the dates.

Hi Simon & Ann, a pleasure to read you. I hope everything is fine there.

OK, I will keep you posted. Dates are not confirmed yet, but it should be around September. Nevertheless, please wait for Luis or my confirmation because nothing is closed yet and dates could change easily.

With best regards

Hi all,

I'm really sorry for the short notice, but the 6th Iberian Meeting comes earlier than expected due to personal reasons of the people who organize it

It will take place on next month, April the 12th-14th, in Portugal. I'm pretty sure that it will be difficult for you to assist, but just in case, everyone of you will be really welcome :) . If you need any further assistance about the event you can contact me directly. The information is being gathered in FB: http://www.facebook.com/events/356963734416784/ but mainly in Portuguese and Spanish.

All the best!

Thanks for the information. We will still be in Australia so will not be able to attend. We were looking forward to the journey and meeting you all later in the year. Maybe 2014! Hope all goes well.
