We were lucky, we had quite an amount of rain and therefore low cloud. We could not even see the Dalsnibba on the way to Gerainger so we gave it a miss (it's a 5km diversion along a £7.50 toll road). The best thing though, like the Lysebotn Road is the fact that you have to return the same way, therefore the Lysebotn becomes 62 km of absolute fun.
Arriving at the much anticipated Trollstigen we couldn't even see the road but as we walked to the new observation platform hanging over the road, the clouds parted for enough time to get the pictures and see the famous road. On the way back we had better weather to enable us to drive the Dalsnibba, what an experience .
