Registering an MGF in France

I have just bought a 2003 MGF which I am bringing home to France at the weekend.

Does anyone have any tips on the registration process?
We have already registered a car here, so we know the procedure, but any ideas on the best place for a CoC or headlights would be appreciated.
I believe that some prefectures will register the car with the V5 instead of a CoC, has anyone managed to do this?

The MGF was hubby's idea, he drove MGBs and MGCs in his youth. I'm just scared of being so close to the road!

You could drop Bruce (Reckless Rat on this forum) a PM, he's a British expat living in the South of France and has had his UK imported MGF registered there. I know a lot about bringing cars from the UK to Germany and registering them here, but afaik the procedure is a bit more complicated with our western neighbours.
