8th Iberian Meeting September 2015
Hi there! Long time since I've been on-line last time. I hope everything is going fine here. (Off-topic: I have a lot of duties that keep me apart from MG universe, it's sad but this is life)
I would like to introduce a meeting that it's being organized by my former colleagues and still very good friends in Spain and Portugal. Dates have been approved for this year, the weekend of September the 19th. The location of the meeting is really interesting and convenient for UK people, I guess. It would be in the North of Spain, at Cangas de Onis, which is about 130 km away from Santander and 230 km from Bilbao (I'm sure you know that these are the two places where you can arrive by ferry from UK). Needless to say, that the rest of European colleagues are also invited.
As usual, it would be our great pleasure to be your hosts. If I can help somehow, just let me know, I will do my best to be the link between any of you and the organization of the event.
Registration period: June and July
Event’s official hotel:
Hotel Granda **** - 33550 Cangas de Onís (Asturias)
http://hotelgranda.com/en/
Special rates for participants:
- Single room, continental breakfast and parking included: 50€ per night (+ taxes) = 55€
- Double room, continental breakfast and parking included: 60€ per night (+ taxes) = 66€
Please contact me for additional details on the booking. There is a promotional code to be included in the reservation.
Registration fee: 15€ per car (for merchandise gifts).
Agenda (draft):
Friday, 18th:
- Hotel arrival
- 21.30h informal dinner at the hotel.
Saturday, 19th:
- Breakfast in the hotel
- 9.30h Welcome and presentations
- 10.30h Start of the route
- 14.00h Lunch (20€ per person, aprox)
- 16.00h Second part of the route
- 19.00h Return to the hotel. Free time.
- 21.30h Official dinner (22€ per person, aprox)
Sunday, 20th:
- Breakfast in the hotel
- 10.00h gathering of the cars and participants
- 10.30h Start of the route
- 14.00h Lunch (20€ per person, aprox)
- 16.00h Farewell

Re: 8th Iberian Meeting September 2015
Eventhough registrations are closed by now, if someone is still interested, please contact me. I will do my best to grant you a ticket
Reason for closing registration earlier than expected is that number of cars growed very quickly for the initial size of the event. There are already more than 20 cars registered and the hotel, the roads and the restaurants doesn't allow much more cars.
Thanks everybody interested.

Re: 8th Iberian Meeting September 2015
We were looking in to joining this event but were already booked for Niederrhein and a family commitment - the distance and cost ruled it out for just a weekend. Ferry was about £630 return. Overnight hotels, fuel and tools was a bit higher. Maybe I can keep September free in 2016?

Re: 8th Iberian Meeting September 2015
Hi John, I'm sorry to hear that you finally will not join us, but I understand the reasons. We are far away
It's too early now for our event in 2016, but I will try to keep you posted as soon as I will have any new. It should be in spring or late summer, but still not decided.

Hi Nacho, don't forget the EEOTY is in Your area in 2017. Maybe you could hold your event immediately before or after so we could do both and meet all your friends.
Are you back in England soon ?, we can meet up and continue our London walks

Re: 8th Iberian Meeting September 2015
Hi Adrian, very nice to "see" you
I'm afraid that this year I'm not going to England, which is a shame because Guinness pints doesn't taste the same here I'm missing these London walks to discover genuine places without tourists
If I can help somehow for the 2017 EEOTY just let me know
