Festive Greetings to our European Members

Post by colintf » Wed Dec 16, 2015 6:23 pm

In 9 days time is Christmas Day, so it's not too early to wish our European Members a Happy Christmas and a great New Year. I hope there are many happy MG Days to come during 2016

During my travels over the past couple of weeks I have been very lucky to see some of you : -

Kasper (Netherlands)
Luc and Bruno (Belgium)
Mykel and Family (Germany)
Eric, Pascal, Guy and Family (Luxembourg)

If only we could have a mass gathering outside of the normal season :D

Anyway, enough from me

Happy Christmas, Happy New Year and I hope to see you during 2016 8-)

A very merry Christmas and a happy new year to all of you on here as well, wherever you may be. It has been a wonderful year with many great events bringing us together from all over Europe. Especially when Kjeld turns up with a boot full of Danish beer. 8-)

And rumour has it this will go on in 2016 … :thumbsu:

True but over 10 years I think I've seen every turning in the city, how about somewhere completely new if we are to fly there ?

Berlin (when I was last there the wall was still up), Budapest, Warsaw/Krakow, Talinn immediately spring to mind as places on the "to visit" list.
Bilstein shocks, Piper 4-2-1 manifold, Daytona, Vader cold-air induction, custom Z and F Stage 2 re-map, Electric boot release, braided hoses, Blue Magnecor leads, Technozen relays, Stage 1 head, BMW Angel Eyes headlights, "MG" puddle lights.

It's not so much where we go Adrian, it's catching up with great friends somewhere, and somewhere easy for most to get to.

But, Ok, if we are talking of flying then top of my list would be Prague :D (and yes I've already been there twice, but would really like to go again at Christ,as time ) 8-)

Prague in Winter is great indeed, but only when it’s really, really cold. :thumbsu: Snow everywhere, a bit of mist coming up from the Vltava over the Charles Bridge, medieval street singers, you are going back centuries.

I was thinking more conventionally I’m afraid … Christmas market on Saturday and zoo visit on Sunday.

True, Dawn and I loved Prague when we went (in the winter) but we've been there so I'd love somewhere new.

Maybe a Bavarian Christmas market or the Oktoberfest in Munchen ?

Hi, and Merry Christmas,

Mykel, good to know you like Danish beers
Next time we meet up, i might have a boot full of these,
and then it would be fun. They taste so NICE, and are
strong, ohh, that Christmas feeling.

Have a nice Christmas all of you, and hope to see
some of you Next year.

Cheeeeers,

Elèn & Kjeld

We hope that you all are having a wonderful day and received all that you wished for and will not suffer tomorrow morning.
Recent Register Tours have been confined to weekend whislestop trips to Northern Europe with a driving/ferry: partying ratio of about 3+:1 whilst we look for a ratio of 1:15-20 (or more).
For the last 14 years we have taken a winter trip to the Swiss Alps after having lived in Basel for 4 years before retiring.
Some may remember "The Natter that Matters" whereby a venue was selected in Europe for a Natter.
Would there be any Interest in a "Natter" in Lauterbrunnen, south of Interlaken albeit we may have to slip to April/May as we have a "Moving House" plan as well.
Fly Zurich and Train or MGFs Welcome.

Hi Geoff,
Ref the Natter, why not start a new thread and see what interest is generated :thumbsu:

I did have a look Adrian, how about Regensburg? One of the nicest Christmas markets inside the Thurn & Taxis palace, which is the largest inhabited palace in Europe (bigger than Buckingham Palace). It's a one and a half hour trip by train from Munich airport.
Meeting on Friday, enjoy the city on Saturday, then off to Munich’s Tierpark Hellabrunn on Sunday.

What do you all think?

Hi Mykel,

How about starting in a new thread with your idea and see how it goes from there? :thumbsu:

I think we drove through there on the way south when we drove the Romantischer Strasse. It was beautiful as was Rothenburg ob der Tauber.

Re: Natter That Matters.

These were unplanned weekend raid type events. A hotel and weekend was nominated and everybody made their own booklings and travel arrangements. Some drove direct in one hit; some added a few days for relaxation. We met in Monaco with one overnight en route. Angouleme was a single drive.

Apart from being close enough to easily drive to, even from the UK, 2 things in Mechelen's favour that you have probably yet to experience Adrian :-

Carolus (the Mechelen Brewery) Christmas Beer which we just happen to be drinking as I type this :D

Carolus Whisky, which we gave a bottle of to an uncle of mine who is a big Whisky fan for Christmas. Not only was he surprised ( as Steffi and I also were) that Belgium made Whisky, but it's now gone straight into the number 1 spot in his top 10 Whisky's :thumbsu:
