Breakdown cover for short European trips?
Hello,
My name is Robert. With my wife and children we are planning to go for a short (around 3 weeks) trip around Europe.
We will drive by car and we are looking for breakdown cover which supports such trips (it shouldn't cost much and we will feel more relaxed). As we are living in London, I would prefer to stick with the UK based company.
I am interested in low price and decent opinions on market. Could you give me any recommendation? So far I have found the https://www.startrescue.co.uk/ as pricing for 3 weeks starts from £48, but I would like to get any confirmation or info about your experience with this company.
Best,
Robert

We have used www.quotelinedirect.co.uk for quite a few years £59 a year when the alternator belt flew of in Norway in 2014 they were very good but as we were in a fairly remote place & it was Sunday night with no mobile signal it took a while to get to us but all in all we were happy with them & have just got our renewal through still £59 which is good value?

We have 365 all year UK and Europe included in our Peter Best Classical Insurance at about £200 inclusive.
I would ask your own Insurance Company first.

Robert, which insurance company covers your car? If its some big, international company I'd check with them first. They might probably offer you the best deal.

Hey, thank you for your answers.
James - Ford Mondeo, 2011, hatchback, 2.0, 140 HP.
What prices do you think I can count on? I haven't done full market research yet.

James - I was browsing the net as I was looking for breakdown cover options.
I found similar topic on this forum dated few years back so I figured it would be good idea to ask about it here - I prefer to ask real users for opinions and experience first instead of calling the companies straight away.
While I am aware MGF is not Ford - I believe experience with companies are shared across all car owners, regardless of the car brand.
Stefansen - It's Aviva. I will give them a call, thanks.

Re: Breakdown cover for short European trips?
That does make sense.
TBH most companies offering this sort of cover are underwritten by Zurich and all basically have the same cover.
Some offer cover from home as long as you purchase more than 7 days before travelling, I used this once when thecar we were taking broke down on the Sunday afternoon before a 6 am departure on the Monday to Euro Disney.
