Driving in France? You might need a sticker ??

Post by colintf » Thu Feb 08, 2018 5:22 pm

Just found this on another MG Forum

"France has introduced some restrictions on vehicles in some cities etc. Travel in these areas is controlled by vehicles having the correct sticker which costs 3.70 euros plus postage on the official government website.
However, it seems that, just like in the UK when applying for an EHIC, passport etc some people have set up official looking sites to grab your money, one site I have seen charges just under 30 euros for the sticker. Presumably, you put your info into one of these sites and then they put it in to the government site and make a fortune."

The French government site is:

https://www.certificat-air.gouv.fr/en/demande-ext/cgu

Thought I should share this but I've not seen any defined list of where one is required 8-)

Here you go, Col: French environmental zones map. But as you said, don't buy the sticker there, the related shop is one of the scam sites you mentioned above.

Why can't we have one single sticker for all of Europe, with - for example - just a "D4" for a Euro 4 diesel or "P3" for a Euro 3 petrol car? Probably too simple.

The "Crit'Air" stickers are only for the centres of Paris, Lyon and Grenoble. Motorway traffic is unaffected.

After Brexit you'll probably need an International Driver's Licence and a Green card for your Insurance, but for the time being you're OK.
