Re: Welcome Tomas in Sweden!
Thanks Collin!!
My wife and I are planning a holiday trip to England this summer in beginning of July, for a week.
Starting with a rental car in Birmingham, visiting friends in Coventry, continuing to British motor heritage museum in Gaydon, and a visit in Abingdon, and some more friends in Newbury, continuing through the Cotswolds, down to Devon and Cornwall.
Maybe a visit at the Beaulieu museum?
As I see that you live in Cornwall , do you or anyone else have any tips what is a "must see" in the area or along the route?
And of course I will be at the Scandinavian MG meeting in Vadstena, it is just 50 km from my home!
Regards / Tomas

Re: Welcome Tomas in Sweden!
Hi Tomas,
are you coming over for this : -
MGLive! 10th, 11th & 12th July 2009 (Provisional) - The international event for all MG enthusiasts
MGLive! IS THE NEW NAME FOR MG CAR CLUB'S SILVERSTONE INTERNATIONAL.
You bringing the MG?
As for Cornwall, originating half way between Newquay & Bude, I would have to say any stretch of the North Coast of Cornwall. The South Coast is good as well.
All depends what you and your wife like to see!
See you in Sweden, if not before!!

Re: Welcome Tomas in Sweden!
The plan is to fly into Birmingham and get a rental car.
I'm pretty confident with the Coventry area, as I worked at Jaguar cars at Whitley engineering center, as resident electronic safety engineer (airbag ECU and such) on and off, for a couple of years. (I've done the vehicle safety testing for the MGF airbag ECU as well!!)
The plan is to see motor museums and english castels. So not so much large citys, more the countryside, and stay in B&B' in the sticks.

Re: Welcome Tomas in Sweden!
Hi Tomas, make sure you join us for a beer or two in Vadstena, we arrive in Sweden on the Wednesday (we are on the Tour de Lux the weekend before and we will drive up from Larochette). We will visit Malmo first then on to Helsingborg for a BBQ with Hakan on Thursday, then we leave on Friday morning together for the SMGM.
Have you been on the SMGM before, maybe we have met, this will be our third (2006/2008 previously)

Hi Tomas
Not sure when you were last in Coventry but the Coventry Transport Museum has recently been upgraded so is well worth a visit and we are later this month with the F Register
There is also now a good Jaguar museum on Browns Lane which is well worth a visit if you can catch it open. https://www.jdht.com/JDHT/html/Trust/jd ... ction.html. The HoE Region is hoping to visit it later in the year.
