Christmas

Post by Andrew Regens » Tue Dec 22, 2009 7:08 am

While the UK seems to be covered by snow, we down under have been having perfect MG weather, 18-40C with the odd shower and Christmas day should be around the 25C. I will use my F for a quick run to the bakers first thing, then put her away as I won't be visiting anyone, they are comming to us, for a change.
The first event for 2010 is an early morning run down to the coast for a brunch BBQ on the Sunday, so if your in Melbourne we leave the Abbot Street car park, Beach Road, Sandringham at 7.00am. Happy holidays to everyone.

Well it wasn't just an F register run but there were 8 F/TF's that took part in the 1st event of the year out numbering the Midgets, only one turned up. Some 50 MG's turned up on a very misrable morning, cold 12C, dull and overcast with the odd 30second shower. Our route was 56 miles and I had to travell half that distance to get to the start at 7.00am. We were going to one of our members holiday house to have a BBQ breakfast and admire his workshop and collection of cars ( 8 car garage, with just four cars so there is enough room to move around them when working on them) and be home before noon to keep the rest of the family happy. This is always a well attended event even though it's in the height of the Australian summer holiday season.
The T register holds these EMR's ( early morning run's ) once a month, all start at 7.00am from different areas so that every one can be home at a reasonable time to keep the non MG members of the family happy and the cars get a run.
We have a visit to a company called the GarageKing, they make modules to keep the garage neat and tidy with built in work benches and cuboards, in two weeks time then a how to night plus our 10th annual Sundowner Run to watch the sunset with good food and the odd glass of something nice on the 27th Feb.
Whilst you are having the Artic Circle run, we should be doing the exact opposite.

Glad to hear you had a good run Andrew, we have our first couple of runs for the year next weekend. Our southern members are having a run to Lake Gordon, a round trip of about 300km. While in the north we are having our first EMR of the year. The following week we have the first Competition event of the year "Maxies Motorkhana" which is always hotly contested and combined with a BBQ to make for a great family day out.
