Grand Prix Chauffeurs

Post by Andrew Regens » Sat Oct 06, 2007 11:09 am

MG F Register members are being considered for the 2010 Australian Grand Prix, as the vehicles to chauffer the F1 drivers. Why then? vehicles for this event must be at least 15 years old. This year MG B's ( pre rubber bumper ) were used and in 2005 MG A's. There are lots of rules and regulations that they, the F1 circus insist on, but it is over 2 years away.

That is realy something to be proud of.. Good to learn that the MG mark has such an important role in Australia that F1 organisation approached MG to join this ceremony not just once but on frequent basis.

We would love to see them driving on our cicuit again and have the honour to do the same over here.

I think I have to remove my roll cage as cars have to look more or less standard!!. Ferrari insist that their drivers are driven in red cars only, bugger I will have to remove my speed stripes!.
It's still along way off.

Wouldn't want to drive them anyway (as if we would have a choice) British through and through I'm afraid, can I drive Hamilton or even Button ?

All names go into a hat as do the F1 drivers, you could get lucky.
My luck is not so good, a few years ago we had to take the Grand Final footie players on a parade through Melbourne I got the refrees, every one else got cheered I got booed!!!.

First requirement is to know your way around Melbourne which we may qualify for but 2010 is too early as the next Match is not until 2011.
Our plans are to visit dear friends in Melbourne then move on to NZ where we lived for 4 years but a Match or several is an added attraction. Particularly the Final.
OZ may be rent a Truck. NZ may be buy and sell an F,

Button probably wished he'd had a chauffeur this season - save him having to drive that hopeless Honda :D :D

Well MG's have done it again. This year 2008 the parade cars will be MG TF's yep the old model.
The reason the MG car club got the gig again is that there wern't any dramas compared to other car clubs, so a pat on the back for our organisation skills.
The F1 circus are paranoid about oil leaking, what old MG's leak oil, The T register are working out a way to put nappies on the cars
Still no word on the F's though.

The way things are going there won't be an Australian Grand Prix in 2010 if we don't pay Mr Ecclestone more money.
