MGF's in Canada

Post by verofan » Sun May 09, 2010 5:47 pm

As the MGF reaches its 15 year birthday, Canadian enthusiasts are keeping their fingers crossed that we will finally be able to get our hands on this great car. I won't bore everyone with the details here, but in Canada we currently enjoy a 15 year limit on imports needing to be certified to safety standards as opposed to 25 years in America.

So you folks in the UK with early cars quit scrapping them unless they are basket cases! Should anyone have one of the 100 or so pre-production cars for sale, I would very much like to hear from them.

For further details see http://www.mgfcars.ca We need all Canadian MG enthusiasts who want the F, to get involved & join the IVOAC.

Can't wait to drive my first F, car AD000575, hopefully in late September.

Regards,

Brad

Great idea, I thought there was already one MGF in Canada however it is a long time ago Terreneuve posted over here.

Please help us out to keep the prices at a reasonable level and buy every F you can ;)
MGFvvc - 90FVBG - charcoal - you might think it is original - (1996 nr:8204)
MGTF 120 - 57RNJ7 - BRG - every day is an MG day - (2005)
MGC CGT - SJ08DY - tartan red - 1985 restauration fairly original - (1968 nr: 4137)

Hi Kasper (and everyone else!)

It's been awhile since I posted last but have been watching the forum.

I haven't converted the F to LHD as of yet and am not sure if I will as it is a Abingdon VVC but have 90% of the spares to convert it.

I will be coming to MG Fifteen at Gaydon so hopefully will see you there!

Does anyone know of a B&B near Gaydon as I stayed in Leamington Spa the last time I visited Gaydon
but would like to get closer as I am not sure if I will be renting a car this time.

With best regards
John

Interesting. I did not know about the 15th celebrations until now. I am thinking perhaps I should attend too. Perhaps we can carpool John?

Hi Adrian

Thanks for the info on the hotel. I will book there also.

I am arriving into Heathrow 31st AM and will make my way up to Warwick early afternoon.

Do you know how far Warwick Parkway train Station is from the hotel by chance??

Do you think there will be any activities Saturday night? :-D

Hi John, here's the MGF15 site taken from our front page ; http://www.mgfregister.org/mgpitfiles/s ... tmgf15.htm

The station is "a few minutes" by road, here's the link : http://www.chilternrailways.co.uk/stati ... k-parkway/

I'm not too familiar with the station, although I know Warwick a little.

I will not be there until the afternoon, I'm picking up European cars at 10.30 on the M25 then we will be on our way, I'm planning to drive to Longbridge later in the day with them, maybe I can get you a lift there and back from the hotel.

Our local group will know the distances and how to get from the station to the hotel although I don't think a taxi will be too expensive.

Sorry only just read this post ...

Warwick Parkway or even the main Warwick station is only a couple of miles from the hotel so the cost should only be a couple of £s to get to the hotel.

There will be an informal gathering at Gaydon itself on the Saturday night for those camping with basically cook your own food and a very basic bar. The 'glow car' competition will be held that night on the camp site.

London Heathrow is one of The Worst Airports in the World having expanded from a Tin Shed to a conglomeration of add-ons. It is OK for London or flying on into Europe.
I have commuted thru Heathrow to Warwick so many times but now try to only use Birmingham.
If you do not have a very good reason to go into London to catch the train then we always use the Direct coach service.
http://www.nationalexpress.com Heathrow to Warwick Parkway direct in 1 1/2 Hours. It would need to be Pre-Booked early for a Saturday in August.
Hoilday Inn is the next Exit on Warwick Bypass 2.8 Miles. When you know what you are doing, let us know and we can arrange a Taxi or PickUp.
Enjoy it.

Appreciate the info Geoff :D

I have taken the bus many times to Birmingham to go to the NEC and various shows around the Midlands over the years and probably even stopped at Warwick Parkway too!!
