Christchurch Earthquake

Post by Mykel » Tue Feb 22, 2011 9:37 pm

Have just seen some footage about the devastating earthquake in Christchurch NZ after radio reports all day long ... I feel deeply sorry for the many casualties and injured ... it's just horrible to learn about it. I really hope that all our MGFriends there are safe!

God bless,
Mykel

Being close our news is full of the devastation, just now a group of people ( 15 ) were found safe under a collapesed building, lets hope there is more of that kind of news than a higher death toll.
The last couple of earth quakes happened at weekends so the town centre was deserted, this time a work day at lunch time could not be much worse.
All our thoughts are with our extended MG family.

The news is not good they have gone from trying to find survivours to recovery mode. They are at least 200 people missing and so far 95 bodies. With the after shocks the cold overnight tempatures things are not looking good, the teams that are looking through the ruble are experts from Australia and America with the latest equipment.
With 24hour news, twitter and the internet we can learn so much within moments of it happening, think how the reporting of the second world war could have changed some of the events...
