Re: MGF Tow bar in Australia?
Tow Bars Manufactured in UK must be Certified for the particular Car. MGF Certification for Max Towing Weight is Nil therefore they are not available off the shelf.
You might speak to Mike Satur as I recollect that in the old days, he offered a Tow Bar.

I am 99.9% sure that at some stage there was an MG option of a MGF Towbar.
This was never a TF option though!!

EEC Directive was from August 1998. My MGF Brochures do not show one however there may have been one somewhere.
Watling offer a Non Compliant Tow Bar for the F at £204.

Re: MGF Tow bar in Australia?
That also applies over here. Tow bars must have ADR approval. I have not seen at three national meets or at any club event a tow bar on an F or TF in Australia.Geoff.F wrote:Tow Bars Manufactured in UK must be Certified for the particular Car. I know of four in Holland, two on F's two on TF's. I've pictures of the TF fitment, refer to FasTForward issues 15 page 22 and issue 19 page 36 to see.

Re: MGF Tow bar in Australia?
Please don't get me wrong, i'm not suggesting or approving the use or fitment of tow bars. I'm just showing pictures of some that have been done because it's of interest.

For trailers or Bicycle Carriers. I suspect the latter.adrianclifford wrote:I know of four in Holland, two on F's two on TF's. I've pictures of the TF fitment, refer to FasTForward issues 15 page 22 and issue 19 page 36 to see.

Re: MGF Tow bar in Australia?
Opening this thread I remarked to my wife "would you want a towbar on your MGF?"
She replied "WHAT, what yould you tow, your luggage thingy, that's silly".

Re: MGF Tow bar in Australia?
I don't know how people go away on long trips with this car.. there no room for even one full suite case.
It's not a big deal but it's something I was thinking about.

Re: MGF Tow bar in Australia?
Easy, we go away for two weeks every year with all we need (including some spare parts/tools/cleaning stuff) you can get two soft bags in the boot, enough for what we need and we change clothes every day. You do need to think about what you need though, no thick heavy coats, one fleece for the evenings, not too many shoes, that sort of thing but it can be done and you don't need to use the rear parcel shelf, that's for the hood.

Re: MGF Tow bar in Australia?
If you really want to stow loads in the boot, you should have a look at http://www.roadsterbags.eu. They make a set of bags, holdalls and cases that fits the MGF/TF boot perfectly to the last cubic inch. Not cheap and possibly ruinous to get them down under but maybe the solution to those away-for-a-month-in-the-outback problems.

They look good, not a bad price for decent luggage.

Re: MGF Tow bar in Australia?
I have the full fitted luggage BUT never use it. I have a holdall and a case on wheels such as used by flight crews in fact both bags can go as handluggage on aircraft plus I use a suit carrier, this takes care of 95% of needs then I can use a small bag or two . The longest my wife and I have been away is a week to Nat Meets and have managed many changes of clothes and looked smart enough to stay at 5 star venues on the way there and back.
