Hi, Mark and welcome to the forum.
Handbrake light is a common problem and can be cured by removing the cubby box under the armrest and adjusting the tensioner bolts that are hidden underneath.

Aye good luck haha! Only kidding, i love my mgf. This forum is great for info and advice especially about the problem areas with these cars so have a good nosey but dont let it get you down as theres not much better motoring wise than a sunny day with the roof down. Happy mgf'ing!
