HELLOOO

Post by Hopper129 » Tue May 16, 2017 7:48 pm

Hello everyone,
Im Steve, new to the MGF/TF world. Recently got rid of my Rover 75 for a Trophy Blue TF 135.

just wanted to say hello and also ask where i might look on the forum for things such as
-Wind Deflectors/Roll Bars
-Hard Tops
for sale or reccomended places to look besides eBay.

Also, i am enjoying my little 135, but how much am i missing out by not having a 160? ;)

Thanks

Steve

Hi and welcome

I've never found the need for a wind stop or a hardtop come to that. Glass rest screen yes, hardtop no. I know several daily drivers in winter that don't find the need of a hardtop :)

Currently I own a 135 MGTF, previously a 160 MGF Trophy, and two 145 VVC's. I don't feel I'm missing out with my 135, but then I love the colour, Firefrost. Some owners might respond and suggest that by not having a 160 you are missing out on performance, and a potential better resale value. In short if you enjoy your 135 then you are not missing out, because basically enjoyment is what F/TF ownership is about, and that enjoyment can come in a varety of forms, moding and maintainence, shine, polising and showing, or driving and doing MG events and socials.

Check the classifieds in this forum, on facebook MGF/TF parts for sale/wanted, Gumtree, Preloved. MG Magazines, specialists such as MGF 'n' TF Bitz (other suppliers are out their ) but for me the most productive is ebay.

Welcome by the way, picture of your TF would be great to see.

Nice TF...interesting reg... not noticed any difference between plastic and glass rear screen rear view. However if you are thinking about fitting a glass rear screen, keep in mind that some windstops are a tad to tall for glass screens especially when dropping the hood. This can cause the windstop to break the heated rear window circuit, and or scratch the glass. Slighyly smaller Windstops suitable for glass rear screen hoods were produced but I'm not sure how common they are, of how often they come up for sale second hand.

i didnt know this. thanks.

i am now looking more seriously at getting a glass rear screen, I'm guessing MGF Mania is the best place to get one?

is anyone aware of any Shows, Meets, Drives out etc in the Northeast of England. would like to get more involved in the community.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Try Martin Smith, he's a great supporter and trader, bought the remaining longbridge stock. That would be my first port of call, followed by BAS 8-)
