Hello from another new owner
Greetings everyone!
After staring longingly at pictures of MGFs since 1995 (as well as collecting brochures and magazine articles) I finally decided to indulge myself last May and bought an X-reg MGF SE VVC with 33k miles, in the customary Wedgwood Blue, which I've always liked. Part of the reason for buying it was to have something fun to drive while my 1972 MGB GT undergoes a (very) long term restoration.
Due to our indifferent summer, the first real outing with the hood down was to the Sunday of MGFest09 at Gaydon, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Curiously, Gaydon was also the destination for our first outing in the MGB the day after the museum first opened (in 1992?).
MGFifteen is already in the diary - hope to meet some of you there!

Re: Hello from another new owner
Welcome!
You'll have fun with the F I'm sure.
My car is similarly enveloped in snow right now - going nowhere anytime soon.
We live at the bottom of a steep ice and snow caked hill ...
I have previously owned a C GT, B and Midget. And my TF is every inch a proper MG.
Good luck with your B GT project. Just think - you now have two classic MGs rather than one!

You have the car that I first wanted when I started to look at F's and TF's - very nice, well done.

Thanks for your good wishes both - and in case you're wondering...I carefully removed the snow from the car immediately after taking that photograph!

Re: Hello from another new owner
Hi Roger, good to hear from another SE owner.
Yes, Stoneleigh is in the diary too, and if it's reasonably fine and dry I'll be aiming to take the MGF - it's insured and taxed so it'd be a shame not to really!
Hope to see you there.

There's likely to be a few cars from the West of England region going to Stoneleigh ~ keep an eye on our forum and you can join up with us if you wish.

Re: Hello from another new owner
Hello Malcolm,
from one new owner to another, welcome. Looks like you have had more snow than we have had in Lincolnshire. One tip a friend with a TF has passed on - if the thick snow melts and runs down the engine compartment vents, it can get onto the engine electrics and give starting problems. My pall took 3 days to dry his out after it was covered in snow whilst he was away on holiday.
Good luck and keep up with the B restoration, still a really nice car.
Cheers,
Ribena Rob.

Re: Hello from another new owner
Thanks Nigel, that's a very kind offer.
Depending upon your route from the West of England you may well pass within about half a mile of our front door (we're just off the A46 Tewkesbury/Evesham road from the M5) so it would make a lot of sense to join you!
Kind regards

Re: Hello from another new owner
Hi Rob, thanks for the tip - mindful of that I've been out there again clearing the snow off the car this morning, as we've just had another covering overnight (the MGF hasn't moved for about ten days). One of the benefits of working from home...!
Kind regards

Nice one! There don't seem to be all that many of us about; in fact the only other SE I've actually seen is Roger's - at Gaydon and at Abingdon. Had some great top-down trips last weekend, but must get the polish out this Bank Holiday!
Kind regards
