Hello from sunny Cleethorpes!

Post by Ribena Rob » Tue Jan 12, 2010 11:47 am

Hello all,
I have just registered on this forum and thought it would be good to introduce ourselves. As you might have guessed already, my wife, Eleanor and I, live in North Lincolnshire. We are members of the Lincolnshire centre of the MGCC and we help to run the Swallow natter in this part of the county. Also, we are members of the Louth section of the MGOC where we act as informal events secretary for this (small) group. We are both 60+ and retired, therefore not too many excuses for getting out in our cars, grandchildren permitting.
I have a 1980 MGB GT and my wife has just bought an MGTF 85th Anniversary model (Intense Cassis, hence "Ribena"). Prior to the TF, she had an MX5 and it is quite remarkable the differences between the two cars. Although we liked the MX5 a lot, I have to say that - up to now - the TF is better! Not many miles on it at the moment but looking to change that as soon a the weather allows.
We are very fortunate to live in a beautiful part of the country and have easy access to some superb motoring roads - and Cadwell park.
Hopefully the bad weather will clear and we can get in some serious milage. We managed to attend the Lincs centre New years day run this year dispite the ice and threats of heavy snow.
Will be good to hear from like minded soles and hopefully meet up with some of you in the coming year

Many thanks for the welcome, but I think things are pretty cold and slippey down your neck of the woods at the moment! All our snow has gone!
Hope to meet up some time,
Ribena Rob.

Hi Nigel,
many thanks for the welcome. How are you getting on with the 85th? Any issues yet? I must admit, I do like the way it rides and holds the road, just need some decent weather to put some miles on. It has been quite noticable how many members of our centre have gravitated towards F's and TF's recently. Even died in the wool T types have bought them and all have been impressed.
Cheerio,
Ribena Rob.

Hi Ribena Rob,

No real issues, apart from the parking sensors have developed a fault. They beep constantly when reverse is engaged. Other than that, it's a great ride and gets looks were ever we go. Ours is called MeG.

Perhaps we'll see you somewhere / sometime.
